Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Hendricks.
Hi Jordan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started filming and taking pictures when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I used to try and create short commercials and plays with this old camera my mom gave me and my brother. We use to make parody videos all the time, and a short time after that, my brother started to get into producing beats & creating music, so he started needing visuals to compliment it. We started to borrow our grandpa’s camera and would film all the time. Eventually, some of my brother’s friends seen the videos we did and started wanting videos of their own. From there, I started to enjoy creating visuals even more, eventually leading from a hobby to a full-time job. The rest is history.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been a few. But that expected to be a part in this journey. Most stress comes from trying to run a successful company, balancing family and work, worrying about “what’s next,” and navigating through some of the “lows” however, I feel the pros outweigh the cons by a million! Throughout this process so far, I’ve been able to meet and work with numerous dope artists, visit places I never really thought I would go, build something from the ground up, pave the way for others, bring joy to clients and viewers and turn a hobby of mine into an income as well. If you are passionate about something, chase it. Every day and I promise you will see results.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a music video director from Peoria, Illinois. I have been filming professionally for close to five years and travel all around the U.S. Something that I have been most proud of is how consistent I have been these past years. Currently, I have worked with over 350+ artists and filmed and edited over 500+ projects by myself. What sets me apart from most would probably be my filming and editing style.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
You have to work for it! Don’t sit and wait for something to happen. Get up and go. Give people a reason to be curious about your work. Learn a new tool or skill that nobody else is doing. Network as much as possible and keep going! Don’t get discouraged along the way. If you are truly passionate about something, chase it, and I promise you’ll get to where you want to be.
