Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Thomas.
Hi Brittany, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Let’s start by saying I am a jack of all trades. I don’t believe you have to specialize in one area and especially in this economy it is important to have many streams of income. I don’t believe women have to fit inside one box because we are all forever evolving into something new, so why can’t our careers?
I have a background in healthcare and a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies and I was a former model with HOP Models & Talent Agency. I left my career in healthcare as the program coordinator at the Bariatric general surgery department to pursue life as an independent contractor. I am currently a realtor with Better Homes and Gardens Metro- Brokers in Atlanta, Georgia.
I began my career in real estate while purchasing my own home. My realtor at the time knew that I had an interest in real estate and thought because of my negotiating skills with purchasing my own home that I would do well as an agent. She recommended that I go to Metro brokers academy, the teacher I should see and from that point the rest is history.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing has been easy of course, especially when it comes to a work/life balance and continuous training, learning how to continuously market yourself and stay updated on all the new trends, economy, and of course, the real estate market. I am a wife, mother of four children, and my life is consistently on the go with clients. In this new market these days, everything is instant. There is no longer waiting or working around a schedule. When a house gets listed, we have to be on point with everything. This is what I would say is the challenge is now trying to get your client in a home for the best deal that they will be happy with. My goal is to make my clients happy with their decisions.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Realtor with BHGRE Metro brokers. I am in the business of helping clients find real estate for investments, business and homeownership. I am most proud of being able to serve others and help them find their dream homes. Many times I have wanted to give up, but I have stayed the course in a very cutthroat competitive business. What sets me apart from other realtors is that I am more than just your realtor.
I have built relationships with my clients and other realtors and I truly understand what you need in a realtor. Based on my own experience as a home buyer. I knew that what I wanted in a realtor and that was someone that was responsive, that acknowledged all my needs, that was honest with me and communicated with me and really went to bat for me when it was time to negotiate, someone that was available to me, whether I needed motivation or to see a home. I took all of the elements that were missing out of an agent I worked with and I decided that I would be everything that my realtor at that time was not for me.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, people would have said I was spoiled by my mother, she was my biggest supporter and encourager. I came from a blended family. My family was very supportive of me. Believe it or not I was quite shy, and I still am to an extent. I loved to read, I was extremely confident, although I was this skinny 5ft, one girl.
I come from a time where we played outside, so I was into sports, track, basketball, cheer, drama, and chorus. I love to sing. I thought that would be my career, but I had so much stage fright. I always had this attitude of determination and if you told me that I could not do something. I would show you just how I could get it done. I always had my own mindset, I was a leader and not a follower, which is why I knew I would eventually aspire to entrepreneurship.
