Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Y. Hill.
Hi Kendra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I actually started my first business, IASA Consulting, out of boredom. I had worked for the U.S. House of Representatives, the UNCF, Google, and the San Antonio Spurs – all places that are some people’s dream jobs, but I was bored at work and tired of the routine. I’m a person who needs to mix it up, or I’m over it. I knew that it was time for me to leave the Spurs when I literally couldn’t focus anymore. I would come to work and either stare at the screen or set up a ton of outside meetings so I could leave the arena. There was really no point in staying, but I needed some stability. On Monday, I walked in and knew it was over. I went to a meeting, left the meeting, packed up my desk, wrote my letter of resignation, and dipped. By Wednesday, I had my first client to the tune of $10K. It was time, and ten years later, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Haha. Smooth road? Not at all. I have had to fall on my face, lose money and friends, experience my share of heartaches, and more! Some of the pointed struggles I endured during this journey: Being diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma and having two surgeries to have it removed. A failed marital engagement. Losing a ton of people in my circle. Having property stolen and damaged. Finding out the truth about my biological father (my assumed father for 30 years was not my actual father – so I discovered). And a faith journey like no other!
The hardest struggle in all of this was myself – I struggled so much with doubt and belittling my own self-worth and value. I learned that it doesn’t matter how well other people esteem you; if you can’t esteem and believe in yourself, you won’t be successful.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We help companies and creatives alike grow in revenue, people reached, and brand visibility. Over the last ten years, I’ve provided consulting services to 100+ clients all over the world, from Thailand to Morocco, Mexico, and Canada. All that experience has helped me revolutionize the traditional business consultant model and taught me how to dive deep into the businesses we work with, learn how they tick, and create ways to make them tick even better.
Services we currently offer at Kendra, Scale My Business: Business Development, Organizational Management, Leadership, Marketing, YouTube Consulting, Brand Management, DEI Consulting, HR/Talent Acquisition, Strategic Planning.
We have three divisions: corporate consulting, YouTube consulting, and small business advisory. No matter who we are working with, we approach every project from a holistic level, understanding that there are people running these businesses – so we deal with the people behind the business while we scale.
I’m most proud of extreme and rapid growth within our own organization. We started January 5, 2020 – just before the pandemic. In less than seven months, we generated $1M in revenue, and over the last 15 months, we’ve made just over $3M.
Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We work with three different types of clients: corporations, YouTubers, and small businesses. For corporations, we usually work in a fully engaged capacity. We’re always open to chat with CEOs who generate at least $1M net annually. If someone is looking to scale into new regions or increase locations, we’re your team. We come into the organization and make observations that lead to strategic implementation for exponential growth.
For YouTubers, we work to create a business behind the brand. Aside from creating business systems that save time, we help creators diversify and increase their monetization, all while helping them focus on the big projects outside of YouTube that they never get to work on.
For small businesses, I offer one-off accelerators, classes, and programs that teach small business owners how to apply a lot of the same principles big corporations use but at their level. We also offer advisory calls, VIP days, and a ton of freebies that help entrepreneurs streamline their business, increase their presence, and make money.
