Hi Maedeh, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Acne affects between 40 to 50 million individuals in the united states, one study found some degree of facial acne in 54% of women older than 25 years; I was one of them! My journey to becoming an Aesthetician started when I began experiencing grade three acne in my early 20’s. I decided to go deeper and learn about the largest organ in our body (our skin) when it started to affect my self-esteem. I wanted to find a solution but also help others because I knew there were other women experiencing this skin condition and they would turn to makeup to cover it up just as I did. Since becoming a skincare therapist, my heart has been in clinical treatments, I’ve been fortunate to work in the Medical side of the spa industry to gain hands-on experience in all the clinical treatments and procedures. So when the universe pushed me towards opening my own skincare clinic, I vowed to focus on results-driven treatments. I now joke with my clients that my goal isn’t their relaxation but rather helping them achieve healthy, youthful, and vibrant skin.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I opened Urban Skin Care Clinic in February of 2020 and had to shut down six weeks later due to a COVID-19 global pandemic. Solopreneurship has been the hardest yet most rewarding accomplishment of my life aside from becoming a mom. My heart goes out to people who need help and guidance with their skin but don’t feel comfortable with in-clinic treatments just yet due to the health crisis of COVID-19.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Urban Skin Care Clinic?
I specialize in preventative and corrective Aesthetics, helping women regain younger-acting and radiant skin by customizing clinically-proven, results-driven treatments to address their needs and concerns. I am known for customizing each treatment to my client’s skin condition. I love celebrating birthdays and celebrate my client’s birthday with a token of appreciation. I also like to let my clients select the music while they’re receiving a treatment from me!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is when I feel I am living my purpose. What fuels my passion and keeps me going is seeing a smile on my client’s faces when they look in the mirror, and when they express to me they are confident to leave the house without makeup!
