Inspiring Conversations with Alex Harris of Drillshop ATL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Harris.

Hi Alex, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Drillshop 2.5 years ago as a way to put high-quality, handmade custom luxury goods in the hands of people who share my passion for fine craftsmanship, self-expression, and authenticity. It is a way that others can share in the creative design process to create truly unique, personalized one of a kind works of art.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think every business, and everyone who runs a business, faces challenges in order to grow and morph into a better, more refined version of themselves. In order to differentiate Drillshop from other brands, I am always challenging myself to take on increasingly more complex projects. In this way, I am constantly up against a learning curve but always progressing and getting better. I think this is the natural progression for anyone in pursuit of mastering their craft.

As you know, we’re big fans of Drillshop ATL. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Drillshop specializes in high-end functional art and handmade luxury goods. Each item is uniquely handcrafted combining traditional leather working techniques, guaranteed authentic repurposed designer materials, exotic skins, and fine leathers sourced from trusted suppliers and world-renowned tanneries.

I am proud to say that I have welcomed hundreds of clients, many of whom are now friends, into the Drillshop family.

Today, Drillshop offers a robust and ever-evolving catalogue of custom, handcrafted leather goods, gold and diamond jewelry, and branded merchandise like hoodies, hats, shirts, and more. I invite you to explore our catalogue using the link provided.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
To me, risk is like vulnerability. It’s imperative for growth, and just because it’s present doesn’t mean it’s unsafe or shouldn’t be part of running your business. Granted, I try not to make decisions that might put Drillshop out of business, but almost every decision we make carries some level of risk whether we realize it or not. A lot of the time, without the presence of at least some risk, the potential payoff is relatively low.

For example. Investment is risky, but without investment how can you expect growth? When things get stagnant, you weigh the odds, take a calculated risk, and bet on the positive outcome. To me, it’s just how you move forward.
