Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Davis.
Hi Rose, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had worked in various IT jobs for over 15 years, but even though it was a decent paycheck, I was never really happy doing it. I had always been interested in Interior Design and had completed several successful DIY projects at home with my husband. The more we shared with friends and family, the more feedback we received of how great and professional things looked. I also really loved designing the spaces and watching my husband bring them to life. When my last IT job came to an end, I decided to make a career change in the direction of Interior Design. I held some jobs in home furnishings, including as a design consultant, which gave me some great experience. I also took some Interior Design classes to build my knowledge. All this helped to reinforce that this is what I wanted and loved to do. After a short detour to have twins, we decided to launch Rose & Lily Interiors.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a small business is always a challenge and a struggle. There is so much work to do to set everything up before you ever see any income. It took a lot of time and sacrifice to create this company, and there is so much to learn. We spend most of our free time on the business, which can be so exhausting.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are an interior design company offering services from whole room makeovers, room floor plans, and design consultations. We chose the name because Rose and Lily are the middle names of our daughters. We hope to bring our children into this business and pass it on to them one day. Our design philosophy is to create spaces that reflect our clients’ personalities while keeping things simple, elegant, and timeless. We look for ways to incorporate statement pieces with meaning into every space so that there is a good story to tell. Perhaps an heirloom from a loved one or a piece of art from a memorable vacation. These things bring interest and character to the space. At Rose & Lily Interiors, we care about serving our clients and creating their dream spaces. We believe in an organic and transparent process with our clients and operating with integrity. We believe in building long-lasting relationships and that clients and business partners should be treated like family.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
We love Atlanta for the diversity of cultures blended together here. There are so many great restaurants showcasing the varying cuisines across the world right here. What’s not so great is that Atlanta is so spread out and requires a lot of driving in pretty awful traffic. It is particularly difficult for Interior Designers because we have to travel all across the city constantly for fabric, furniture, décor, clients, and vendors, and the only practical way is to drive in our infamous traffic.
