Life & Work with Celeste De’Vine of Mabelton,Ga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste De’Vine.

Hi Celeste, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Have you ever seen the movie “P.S. I love You”? Well, my story is similar. Three years ago, my youngest son, Trevor, passed away. While processing that grief and embarking on a new chapter of my self love healing journey, I started to re-evaluate my life and values. I realized that I had spent so much time doing things that I did not enjoy and that were not conducive to one, being present for my children and two my need for creative expression. While working at another dead end job, I started to really think about what I actually enjoyed doing and what I was naturally good at. I have always been the fashionista of every group I was in and people always compliment about my style. I have always used clothes as an outlet for expressing how I feel about myself, it’s my way of being true to who I am and showing myself love.

I realized that fashion was my passion and although I lacked the skill to create clothes, I found that I had a great eye for bold patterns and fun prints. I’ve always been a thrifter and would always be able to find very unique pieces. This lead me to becoming an online clothing reseller.

Finds By De’Vine became a reflection of the love that I had for myself. I wanted to create a catalog of clothing and jewelry that was different and unique so that other woman could come to my shop to “find themselves”, find something that helped them to express their true authentic self the same way I have. I decided to focus my shop on plus size clothing because ,as a plus size woman, I want all of use to feel comfortable, stylish, and confident in the skin and dress size that we are in!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has definitely not been smooth. I started with no guideline or knowledge about how the resell business works. I think my biggest challenge has been marketing. I had to take some time and a lot of research about ways to stand out as a reseller while still being true to who I am. It’s still a struggle but I am finding my footing and I’m excited for to see where I am a year from now.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a professional thrifter. I resell vintage clothing and specialize in selling plus size clothing. I also hand make jewelry, which has been very therapeutic for me. I’m known for having a good eye for prints and colors and for the details that I put into my jewelry. I am proud of the fact that I was fearless! I had an idea and was able to a see vision and I have been running with it since. I think that as long as I keep that mindset, I can achieve anything.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
My favorite app would have to be Pandora. Music is the greatest tool I use to help motivate me to be my best self. I also do a lot of YouTube-ing for advise and guidance on improving my shop. For the most part, I try to unplug as much as possible and try to spend as much time as I can either outside in nature or in my own mind, meditating.
