Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Fender.

Hi Greg, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Greg Fender, in fall 2020 during the pandemic, I decided to create my own clothing line called 876tingz. The numbers 876 is the area code from the country I was born and raised in Jamaica. I decided to design the logo with the Jamaican colors black, green and yellow. After creating the website I had to figure out a way to market and promote the clothing so thought to myself to wear the clothing to Caribbean events and other places in the public eye. My family supported the idea and bought t-shirts from the website to help promote the name. People were gravitating to the products but it was a bit slow however, that did not stop me from pushing.

In summer 2021 me and my brother in law – Jasin “Mickoy” Tugwell had conversations about going to Caribbean events and doing interviews to build the name some more. We went to a pool party on July 4th and did some interviews, I went home, edited the videos and added funny edits to make the interviews more interesting and hilarious. I posted a small 1 minute teaser on the 876tingzent Instagram page and that interview has over 1000 views was shared to over 200 people and is still sharing which made us now noticeable to the local Atlanta party scene.

Since then, people have been reaching out to us to host parties, do interviews, party highlights and adding us to event flyers. We have been getting a lot of bookings and pushing the name 876tingz and people love us and are really enjoying the movement. We plan on continuing and making it bigger and better by not only hosting parties but also doing weddings, birthdays and other cooperate events.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In my opinion, I don’t think the road to success is ever smooth for anyone. However, we have not ran into any struggles as yet but I do believe that we will. It’s still new for us because it has only been 4 months so I think as we continue down the line there will be some hurdles that we have to go through.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My profession is an IT specialist, I’m known as the computer guy since I was a teenager growing up. I do hardware and software troubleshooting for the company I work for. I specialize resolving computer related issues such as Microsoft 365 configuration, data backup, server access and configuration. I have now realized that I am a great creator and enjoy being creative and bringing visuals to life. I’m very proud of myself for starting my production company called “Fender Productions” which is my media company that 876tingz entertainment is under. I also have a Jamaican/American web series called “Jungle” that I created during the same time 876tingz was created. What really sets me apart from others is creativity and mind blowing ideas that I have, my work and personal qualities that I have are also a huge factor that makes me very unique from others.

What matters most to you? Why?
My family matters to me the most, I love them very much. When I’m out hosting and doing interviews sometimes I stop and think about them because I really want them to see the effect that I have on people when we’re doing interviews. I have 2 children Sanai and Zakai and I have another one on the way. My son (Zakai) who is 3 seems to like what I’m doing, sometimes I catch him holding the mic and saying “this is “876tingz” and I laugh to myself. This motivates me more to go out there and continue doing great work and build the name and the company. Once the company gets to a higher level my children will have a business to own when they get older and this is why my family matters to me the most.
