Life & Work with Kelsey and Deneshia Patterson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey and Deneshia Patterson.

Hi Kelsey and Deneshia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We launched Good Good Ice on Deneshia’s birthday, May 15, 2020. It was the beginning of a global pandemic and that same evening as we were celebrating, we received a devastating phone call. Deneshia’s grandmother had passed away. Her grandmother was always there to celebrate her birthdays along with every accomplishment she has made in life. Deneshia knows she left peacefully and is watching over her, smiling and saying, “I’m proud of you and your family, little lady; and I will forever be with you on this journey”. She knows her grandmother has been there in spirit and guarding our every step along the way!

Prior to starting Good Good Ice, we always enjoyed fun indoor and outdoor activities including festivals, concerts, nature trails, parks and exploring new cool areas throughout the city. We would always indulge in some of the local treats and snacks during these outings but found that there was a lack of refreshing, more health-conscious options available on many of those hot sunny days. Those factors helped to start the process of brainstorming and researching ways to bring an unforgettable experience of our own while providing refreshing treats for any event or location.

Deneshia’s background as a teacher steered us to focus on a few things that prevent many people from enjoying certain delicious treats such as GLUTEN, PEANUTS, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, DAIRY, and VEGAN lifestyle. Along with my background and love for drawing and graphic design made creating our brand come naturally. That is when we created Good Good Ice “Twice as Good! Twice as Nice!” Italian Ice. We provide a premium Italian ice experience that is enjoyed by both kids and adults alike!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not so much! The whole world was starting to shut down as we were just beginning to get going. The pandemic of 2020 did not allow our upstart to go quite as planned; however, we kept pushing and adjusted our approach. We initially set out to have our Good Good Ice Wagon Pop-Up experience at all the festivals, parks and neighborhoods that we have visited over the years while catering for big private events as well. However, all public and most private events were canceled or extremely downsized due to global pandemic. Also, we are both essential workers, so our professional careers were still ongoing full swing. Lastly, making sure our now 6-year-old son was involved and engaged in the family business was critical as he was with us every step of the way during this time. We are all about family, uplifting the community and mentoring our youth.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Both of us are perfectionist when it comes to presentation and have a love for visual arts. Everything from our eye-catching logo (eyes to see the good, tongue to taste the good, and the smile because you feel good), inviting colors, wagon setup, and custom-made LEGO wagon were designed and created by us. Our brand and business are like no other. We enjoyed diligently creating all our content for our business which was challenging yet exciting and fun.

The Good Good Ice Wagon Pop-Up gives a premium Italian ice experience in places you wouldn’t expect! We can be inside or outside at your park, school, business, neighborhood or festival… you never know where the Good Good Ice Wagon will be next! As soon as you step up to the wagon, you will receive top-notch GOOD customer service, GOOD vibe music, and GOOD refreshing Italian ice and it comes together to form the BEST ITALIAN ICE EXPERIENCE IN GEORGIA!

Good Good Ice’s mission is to provide as much GOOD in life through ICE for all events in the community! We have grown tremendously from our initial start and still love creating enjoyable experiences for individuals and families to enjoy together. Our Good Good Ice Wagon food truck is coming soon and will allow us to serve more Good Good Icers in a bigger way as we look forward to continued growth. We enjoy what we are doing for the community in a Good way while providing a better option for a refreshing treat when it is needed most! We are Mobile! We Cater! We Pop-Up! We Deliver! Let us bring some good to you!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Always be willing to help others while on your journey and open to learning new ideas along the way. Find comfort outside of your comfort zone. Surround yourself around people who are on the same path as you or has been on the path you are looking to walk down. Speak positive affirmations over yourself and your life.
