Amber, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my career in this childcare field in 2006 being self-employed, initially as just a professional nanny, which I have since then became a certified pediatric sleep consultant, cache certified master newborn care specialist and postpartum doula. I have always loved babies ever since I could remember. Playing with baby dolls was the best pretend play a little girl could have. I loved babies then as much as I do now. My career is infant and child-focused and I love every bit of it! Growing up my mom was an entrepreneur as well, she was a seamstress. I Vividly, remember watching her sew all the time and creating her own designs for herself and for our family members as well as for her friends. She would alter and sew clothing for customers and her clients all while maintaining her household, marriage, and her children. Watching her create unique and beautiful designs along with working for herself was so inspiring to me. My mom was a true creative, she loved designing clothes for my special occasions as a young girl and as well as creating both of my prom dresses. Being exposed to all of this creativity and fashion at such a young age rubbed off on me. This is where my true entrepreneurial spirit was inherited from, my brilliant, innovative, fabulous and creative mother. I knew from a young age I could accomplish anything I set my mind too. My mother was my true inspiration, past, present, and future.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, my journey in my career and life has not been a smooth road, that’s impossible LOL. Many times I wanted to give up. My faith in myself and my skills was lacking at times when I didn’t need to feel this way. I really do think it’s natural to have self-doubts and to constantly second guess yourself when you’re trying to better yourself. Life can be very harsh. I would have strong urges to just quit and pursue a different career path and to just think to just give up already!! Nevertheless, I absolutely did not give up, I stayed the course and I’m happy to have found my true calling.
I would at times replay all the things I went through and what I had endured, both personally and professionally then, I would quickly snap out of it and get right back to thinking and being positive, only allowing myself to speak and think positivity over my life. Life will always throw curve balls that will seem insurmountable at times but I never lost my strength to continue forward.
I definitely would like to say that each obstacle that presented itself wasn’t all extremely difficult. Similar realizations were discovered each and every time which was allowing myself to open my eyes to accept and embrace the hardships and unknown. Having this perspective and mindset aided me the gift to see and find solutions where I couldn’t envision before. Not seeing past my own limits and hardships helped make me better and built my character more because without those life lessons and tough times I wouldn’t have been able to be more creative and open-minded in finding the answers and solutions I needed.

My company is called Creative Nurturing LLC. I’m a pediatric consultant, master newborn care specialist aka baby nurse and postpartum doula.
I’m known for sleep training babies to sleep through the night. I troubleshoot and tackle the root causes of poor sleep hygiene and routines in infants and children. I work in families private homes nationwide. Guiding and teaching parents while assisting them with the general and specialized care of their babies and establishing great sleep habits/routines is the ultimate goal. Having an understanding from parents and families with our mission makes happy results. Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
I love Atlanta, I’ve been here since 1992. This is my home, I grew up here however, I’m a native and from Charleston, South Carolina. I love the growth of our city, the endless opportunities and great people I get to meet.
I don’t love the traffic but I do understand why it’s so hectic. People are moving here at a rapid pace to chase, follow and achieve their goals dreams. Atlanta is a popular city so more people will continue to move here for fresh opportunities, life goals, business goals and more.
Fortunately, I work nightshift so the traffic is pretty much nonexistent for my working hours. Nonetheless, Atlanta is a great city.
