Meet Don Faro of Trumuzik Entertainment in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Don Faro.

Don, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been recording music since I was nine years old. Growing up around local music legends and being that kid in the studio running errands. In college, Savannah State University, I had an opportunity to meet some really talented individuals: Rich Da God and BrainFood 4Thought. As the label grew popularity in 2011, we decided to really focus on hip hop conscious music. Music that uplifted, motivated and inspired our community to escape the perils of systemic and political injustice.

Back in 2011, that type of music didn’t necessarily blaze the charts but we had a strong fan base. As time progressed so did our fan base and our quality of music. Fast forward to 2019, we release the EP Black History. Artist such as Nipsey and others really brought attention to what we have been preaching for years.

We look to use this momentum to help bring awareness, uplift and celebrate black culture with our music and events. We have a free event titled Celebration of Black History which will include live music, black trivia, games, and more on September 8, 2019, at Artlanta.

Has it been a smooth road?
No road worth traveling is smooth. Making conscious music has been a struggle because the people who have controlled the music industry can’t relate and simply have little concern about the success of our culture.

We’d love to hear more about your company.
Trumuzik Entertainment is all about bringing awareness and entertainment to music that brings people together. We are known for realistic, captivating lyrics that inspire people of any color, background, and purpose to go out and be successful. We deliver what I call Lyrical Trap music (dope beats but better lyrics). Our definition of the trap is any being in any situation where you feel “trapped”. We hope our music can relate to the people and inspire anyone to chase their dreams without fear.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is the mecca for diversity and inclusion. Atlanta is the mecca for music, film, and entertainment. I cannot see a better place to incubate a label that wants to bring together people from all backgrounds through multiple media platforms. Atlanta has its rough parts just like any other city, but coming from the hood as I did, you realize you must lead through example not just talk.
