Meet Jahmirris Smith of Pyramid Gang Entertainment in Alpharetta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jahmirris Smith.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started Pyramid Gang Entertainment when I was 17 years old. The name came from my fascination of ancient Egyptian culture. Prior to getting the company registered, the name was Pyramid Gang Productions and focused on the music industry. I was a rapper in the beginning of my career, then switched over to be a Record Executive. After starting in that position, I began to hire interns to help with A&R, music managers for clients, videographers, and graphic design. Then I began to hire acts ranging from Country, Rock, Hip Hop, and R&B. I officially struck success with my Neo-Soul / R&B artist, King Montiez in 2017. He helped the company receive awards, certifications, and major music success from music festivals to major placements in movies and television shows. In 2021, we have offers on the table from major priority one distribution companies for Pyramid Gang Entertainment Inc. As of now, PGE is officially a management, distribution, and publishing company. We have plans to meet and sign with one of the distribution companies by summer of 2021.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road was very rough due to the fact that I’m from Alabama where music resources and connections are very scarce. After putting forth effort by traveling and meeting different OG’s in the business and paying to attend different music seminars, I ended up learning more about how to be a young record executive and managing different artists. Another struggle I had was lack of financial backing and resources. I ended up getting multiple jobs to get other streams of income to save up for this company and began to invest in other opportunities that would help me get this business running until I was able to quit the other jobs and run PGE full-time.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
PGE is a management, distribution, publishing, and record company. PGE is known for operating like Bad Boy Records in the 90’s (LOL). We help artists get to where they need to in their careers and help them fulfill their passions. Something that sets PGE apart from other businesses is that I am one of the youngest record executives out there and PGE is a fully black-owned company. I give all my artists free range to use their creativity as they please. I am most proud of all the success that we have gained through the years with different genres of music and the way that we have been able to expand into different operations in the music business.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I would recommend any artist that is in the culture to move to Atlanta. As long as they are hard-working and financially stable, I think that Atlanta is an ideal place for artists to start out and grow.
