Today we’d like to introduce you to JaShaundria Morris.
Hi JaShaundria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. I started Imonogrambyjayy, LLC in 2016 as a hobby. I always dreamed of starting my own business. I always knew I wanted to be a graphic designer. In high school, I was in the graphic design program. I decided to go to college to further my love for the arts. I am a recent graduate of the University of South Alabama Graphic Design program. I graduated with Cum Laude Honors. I am currently a graduate student at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta. I am enrolled in the MFA in Advertising Design program. In May 2021, I decided to turn my hobby into a full-time business. I love helping people with creating a brand and marketing their business. I have designed flyers, logos, ebooks, websites, shirts, and more for many clients.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles was time. In undergrad, I didn’t have a lot of time to create physical items but I did a lot of graphic design work. Time management has helped me complete all orders that have come my way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in graphic design, marketing, monogramming, and more. I’m most proud of being a full-time grad student while running a full-time business during a pandemic. I am proud of how determined I am to create a brand that people will remember. What sets me apart from others is that I actually design and create everything I do—it’s really customized!
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The advice I have for other people is you if believe it, you can achieve it. If you are not dedicated to making your customers happy, this is not for you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Trust God through it all put him first. One thing I wish I knew was to purchase everything in bulk at the beginning because you never know when things will sell out or a pandemic will hit.
