Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruby Jones.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My Story starts with being born the 3rd of four daughters in East Atlanta. I had a desire to ensure that everyone around me was well informed and included. For many years, I’ve advocated for myself and others in the areas of education, workforce and housing. My passion grew tremendously after losing my parents before the age of 16 years old and I learned first hand the do’s and don’ts of not only surviving in this world but Thriving. In seeking to pay homage to my journey, I created the name VickiBloom. My mother’s family name was Vicki and my favorite quote is “Bloom Where You’re Planted.” Today I have a love for planting seeds and watching them grow from childhood on. What started out as tutoring and being a nanny has grown to over 20 years in Education and Social Services.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The rode to VickiBloom: The Blooming Center has been an exceptional one. The passion and level of care for others continues. I will say that over the years, I’ve had to learn to balance my heart and my head. Leading with your heart (passion) helps to keep you grateful and grounded. Leading with your head (wisdom) assists you with balancing that gratitude with practicality. When I lean into one or the other or balance the two, depending on the day, I’m having 😉 lol, it allows me to serve from a place of Thriving.

The Blooming Center offers Tutoring (PreK- 8th), Educational Consulting (Prek- College) and Life Coaching in the areas of Personal, Family, Career and Relationship. We also offer Nanny/Sitter Services, where I partner with my teenage daughter to provide weekend and holiday care by scholarly Teens through VickiElaine’s Sitter Services.

How do you define success?
Success is the ability to live well! Living well for me is being in good health physically, mentally and fully. Success is also walking in integrity, gratitude and giving my best to each life, opportunity and space I encounter, starting with self and branching out to the community at large.
