Meet Shelley Thompson of Knot Just Floors in Newnan Georgia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelley Thompson.

Shelley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I went to work for a Flooring company in 2008. I was hired as an office manager. Quickly I had to learn the entire business due to an absent owner. I did the Indigo Hotel in College Park in 2011 and was approached by the developer on why I did not have my own company. I continued for another year and then I did a lot of praying. I wanted to start a company that treated the people that worked for them right and be recognized for the work they do. I wanted to provide a great product for the client and not gouge them on the price. As this is what I had witnessed for so long. I love to design and make your home your personal castle. This can be done with integrity and honesty. It is not about being rich. It is about delivering a great product at a very good price. Everyone deserves to have nice flooring in their home. This can be done on a budget also. I recognize the men that work for me they are the ones that also make this company. We are a team. Long story short. I took everything that I did not like about corporate America and put my own spin to it. We can all achieve our goals and dreams with integrity and hard work. You have to recognize and give credit to the ones that help you and your company. That is what I founded this company on and will continue to as long as possible. I am a little fish and a big pond but with the crews I have and the wonderful clients and of course God I can keep this up and continue to grow. I will remain humble and succeed. We also are willing to go over most of Georgia and that make us stand above the others also. A closed mouth does not get feed is my way of thinking.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a tough road and a lot of learning curves. It is hard for a woman in this industry. You are always going to learn something new everyday no matter how long you have been doing it.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Knot Just Floors story. Tell us more about the business.
We do Hardwood Sanding and Refinishing and can do custom colors. We also do Hardwood repairs and installations along with Laminate. I have a wonderful crew that is a big blessing. We also do Historical houses. We have done several and brought them back to the time they were originally done. We are willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are happy. We listen to the clients needs and wants. I work closely with all my clients and am present on every job site.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t call it luck I call it Faith. Without faith in yourself or your crew you can not achieve anything.
