Today we’d like to introduce you to TONE’S MARTIAL ARTS & KICKBOXING.
TONE’S MARTIAL ARTS & KICKBOXING, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was introduced to Martial Arts at the early age of one years old. Being the first born of my siblings, my father already had several black belts and I was molded behind his success. My father Hanshi Tracey Smith has trained with Grand Master Ron Austin, Grand Master Leslie Austin, Shidoshi Ron Van Clief and Chuck Norris to name a few. I’m a Sensei in Aiki Jitsu, with a background in Goju, Shotokan, Boxing and Kickboxing. I currently train men and women from all walks of life, in the Military, Law Enforcement, as well as anyone wanting to learn Martial Arts, Boxing and Kickboxing for Self Defense and overall self-awareness.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road but anything that you truly love and have a passion for is worth fighting for. With the understanding that there will be obstacles, and rather than viewing it as a challenge but more like part of the process, makes it that much more gratifying once you actually achieve your goals. One challenge that I had to face was being the Hanshi’s son, or the Coaches son so to speak. It isn’t always peaches as one may think. With the pressure of living up to his status and paving my own lane, it was difficult at times, but honestly those were the challenges I looked forward to the most.
Please tell us about the business.
The name of my business is called TONE’S MARTIAL ARTS. You can find me on Instagram @Tonesmartialarts and my YouTube page at Tone’s Martial Arts. I specialize in Self Defense, Kickboxing and Boxing doing personal training. One thing that sets me apart from others is that when training with me you’ll learn high level Black Belt techniques right away. Most would teach White Belt techniques then slowly go up, which don’t get me wrong you have to know the foundation and that’s what I teach but, I don’t get gratification from teaching in increments because I hear so many stories from my clients that open up to me once they’ve had my training. From domestic violence, rape, robbery etc. Women and men all have unfortunate stories they live with every day. We all should be aware, alert, and attentive and can benefit from having some type of training.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t have done anything different, the mistakes that you make through life is what makes you stronger.
