Meet Trailblazer Viola Choice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Viola Choice.

Viola, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I come from a loving hard-working family in California. We didn’t have a lot of money but my parents always made sure we were happy and feel loved. Nobody in my family with the college. However, from a young age, I had an entrepreneurial spirit. Through high school, I struggled with depression and health issues. I moved out at 16 and had bad grades really bad grades. When it came to my senior year, everyone was applying to schools. I knew I had to go to college specifically in HBCU because my favorite movie was Drumline. I applied to one school, Clark Atlanta University. I got accepted! At 17, I pack my bags and with the help of my family, I moved to Atlanta. I was petrified and excited at the same time. I LOVED IT! My sophomore year was the best year. Everything was going great and I met the boy of my dreams, Keenon. We were best friends and lovers. January 8, 2016, he was shot and killed in front of me. He was 20 and I was 19. That day changed my life forever. That was a depression I couldn’t explain. I didn’t know why it was happening to me. I started failing classes, losing friends, and losing myself. I was in search of something to me in my heart and that’s when I found a CHOSEN. CHOSEN helped me focus and I ended up graduating in four years with a business management degree and a 3.0 GPA. Since graduating, Chosen has grown tremendously and I thank God for that. My passion for Chosen comes from the fact that it saves my life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life has been far from a smooth road. I’ve dealt with depression my whole life. Since I’ve started my business I haven’t been depressed. When my boyfriend died at 19 I thought my life was over. My pain turned into my purpose and my test into my testimony. Never give up! That struggle, that hurt, that rejection will make success so much sweeter. Pray, Plan and Project! Though the road may be bumpy, when you reach your destination you will realize it was worth it. Trust in God’s timing. Stay focused and don’t give in to distractions.

Please tell us about CHOSEN – what should we know?
Chosen specializes in clothing accessories and bags. Chosen is for EVERYONE! Men, women, plus-size and petite. We are mostly known for our style. Chosen sells anything FLY. We don’t follow the trends. We carry items that make you feel confident! That makes you feel CHOSEN! That’s what I’m most proud of! I want to make all my Chosen Ones feel like they special. What sets us apart is that we don’t limit anything. I want to sell everything. Not just clothes, not just bags. Everything fly, everything CHOSEN! We follow our own rules!

Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
I’m not a big reader, however! I love Black Enterprise, Forbes. My favorite podcast is by Gary Vee! He’s AMAZING! I’m obsessed with millionaires & want to do anything I can to get there and further!
