Rising Stars: Meet Ashley Stephens

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Stephens.

Hi Ashley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi! My name is Ashley Stephens and I’m a 23-year-old photographer and designer. I got started in photography in high school, but I received my camera when I was a child and have loved it ever since. I was the main photographer for our high school yearbook (and at the time, I was actually really bad, lol) and from there, all I wanted to do was shoot. Now I am a professional photographer and I have the best clients! I love traveling to Atlanta because I’m absolutely in love with the city and it photographs so well. I would not be where I am today without the support of my family and friends. My best friends Mason and Grace are constantly pushing me to be better in the photography world as they are also photographers. It’s only up from here!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Getting where I am today was definitely not what you would want it to be. As a photographer, I am my biggest critic, but without the challenges of learning, I would not be who I am today. The biggest struggle, I would say, for any photographer is just learning the camera inside and out. If you don’t know how to manually operate your camera, you will not make it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I absolutely LOVE just photographing people. I would say my speciality is seniors. I love to see how proud they are for reaching the milestone, whether it be a college or high school, senior. They are always so fun to talk to and capture. I love to hear what they want to be when they begin their career and where they want to go. I am 100% open to photographing ANYONE; when I say anyone, I mean it. I think that is what sets me apart from most photographers in the south. I love everyone and I don’t care what your background is, your sexuality, your race… everyone deserves to have memories and feel good about them!

What’s next?
As far as photography goes, my plan is to just keep shooting! I want to do more collabs with people from bigger cities and make some awesome connections. As for other plans, I’m not sure. I’m looking into going back to school for my master’s in elementary education. I feel called to be creative and to be a servant for people, and I want to do that whatever way God sees me doing it.

Pricing:

  • My senior shoots start at $250 but you can message me for more info!
  • Weddings start at $800, but I typically do not book a ton of these as I am more passionate about my portraits.
