Rising Stars: Meet Collin Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Collin Brown.

Hi Collin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a strong love for music. I considered it to be a space where I could run away from the reality of the world and let out the emotions I’ve held inside for so long. I first started to write music when I was in the 6th grade. I never really had any support for my music around that time, and to be honest, I would get clowned for even trying. I had a moment in time where I just gave it up and told myself I would never release anything ever again. Years later, I had some close friends inspire me to try music once again. This happened during my second year in college. Ever since then I have been writing stories about my life in music and trying to improve with every song.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road with music has been rough. It’s been a constant battle to even get people to listen to your music. Aside from that, I never had much support in the beginning. Instead, all I was hearing was negative comments and i hated that. That’s what soon lead me to give up music in that period of time. I’m so thankful that I had the courage and support later in life to start chasing my dreams and doing something I love.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Currently, I am finishing up my last year in college, I am aiming to be a strength and conditioning coach and ultimately want to work with athletes. I am also going to obtain my personal training certification as well. I prefer to work with athletes, but I want to be able to work with everybody ranging from different ages. I also run track in College as well while working different jobs to hold me over financially. While all of this is going on I still write and release music as well as perform it when I can. I’m most proud of the songs I’ve made through these couple of years and the experiences that lead me to take the next step in music. I feel like my music sets me apart from everyone else because of my distinct sound. I do not sound like anybody else and I think that matters in music. Honestly, music is my dream and I will never give that up.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The main lessons, I’ve learned from this Covid – 19 experience is to cherish the time with your friends and family. Life is too short and keep your loved ones close. Focus on your goals and find a way to excel when things get rough.
