Today we’d like to introduce you to Dontario Malone.
Hi Dontario, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I remember going to music events back in 2016. At the time, I was a music producer. While going to these events, I would always see photographers at the events shooting. One in particular by the name of Noah Morrell AKA ShotBy50 stood out to me the most. I followed him on social media and was blown away by the content he’d produce in such low light at these events. He inspired me to give photography a try. I did just that. Here I am five years later, still deeply infatuated with the art of photography.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was rough, I guess, being that a lot of photographers I looked up to here in the community weren’t very helpful at the time. Some of them gave off the vibe as if they were too good to give back. But I decided to be the change I wished to see in the community.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a contemporary fashion/lifestyle portrait photographer from Memphis, TN. I am known for my composition, composing shots in such a way that it makes my audience feel as if they can step into my images. I am most proud of my progression and dedication to the art. I set personal goals for myself and accomplished them. I am my own individual. I try to steer clear of trends in life and also in my photographs and I wish to inspire others to do the same.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Through happiness. The happier I am, the more successful I’ll be.
