Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Reid. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Jeremy Reid better knows in the music industry as “J. Reid The Producer” or “Chevi,” is a native of Decatur, Georgia. Reid graduated from Stephenson High School in 2005 and attended college at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. In 2006, Reid left college to pursue his career in music and in 2009, he started his own record label, Chevi Muzic, LLC in Atlanta, GA.
As a skilled percussionist, pianist, guitarist, vocalist and writer, Reid has spent the last 13 years perfecting his craft while working with music talents such as Lloyd, Zonnique, Webbie, Rick Ross, Jack Harlow, City Girls, Salma Slims, Lil Baby, Pap Chanel & Lil Wayne. He has also worked with Atlanta artists; Joe Green, Bloody J, Bahja Rodriguez, Little Donald, YFN Lucci, F.L.Y (Swag Surfin) and countless others.
In August 2018, Reid produced his most successful production to date. He co-wrote, arranged and produced five songs for Nicki Minaj’s fourth platinum album, “Queen,” which included the platinum hit single, “Chun-Li.” Reid also produced gold records, “Barbie Tingz,” “Ganja Burn”, “Rich Sex,” and “Though You Knew”.
J. Reid seldom rests, constantly raising the musical bar as he sets new standards and creates his own creative musical stamp in music. His focus towards quality and excellence in music is what sets him apart from the rest.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road being a music producer with no mentors and hardly no guidance was very hard. I had to network to be able to get opportunities. Even when I got those opportunities, I had to focus on success because there were no 2nd options for me. After having success, my road hasn’t been easier, dealing with lawsuits, litigations and copyright disputes with people you have worked with your entire career. The music industry is not for the faint at heart.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a music producer, sound designer and artist. Most of my work consists of producing for artists such as Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Money Bagg Yo, Boosie, and many more!
I’m most proud of my relationship with Nicki Minaj. She gave me the opportunity to produce five songs on her album “Queen,” which is platinum and the single “Chun Li” is platinum. I’m very proud of those accomplishments. What sets me apart from others is what I’m doing now. My record label “Chevi Muzic Universe.” Currently, this is my pride and Joy. Working with artist Jamar Langley and Official Morgin is one of the best decisions I’ve made in my career.
Any big plans?
The next step for me is finding another location and really building my administrative team. Currently, we are working on a project for Morgin and one for Jamar. Also, after the success of my first album, “American Muscle 2,” I’m planning to release another collaboration style album to bring awareness to my company and the different artist I work with.
