Marissa Hunter is a successful internationally-acclaimed author. In her debut book, ‘I Was Chosen to Remember’ she shares the inspirational story of her family’s priceless gains during the spiritual transition of their matriarch.
Prior to publishing her first literary masterpiece, Marissa wrote professionally in a corporate setting for many years. Marissa is also a humanitarian who concentrates on uplifting the lives of women, children, and the elderly with her philanthropic works in the community.
Always looking to uplift the vibration of the human experience, she uses her own life experience to illustrate her lessons learned. Marissa, always having a passion for writing and public speaking received her BA in Communications. With over ten years of experience, her journey has been both interesting and rewarding.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to success has not been smooth by far. It has been paved with many late nights working and networking, with missed opportunities and a bit of doubt at times. Part of what drives Marissa is the challenge that comes with opening doors that she’s been told are closed to her. However, the road to success has also been paved with some great milestones.
This year alone I’ve had two television interviews, hosted a series of media events, become a brand ambassador and surpassed my goals in book sales and more. Marissa is driven and goal-oriented which has helped to keep her focused onfinding the right strategy to balance all the moving pieces of life as she strives for greatness.
The hustle required to make your dreams come true while being a wife and mom to two amazing boys can’t be done without the support of family. Marissa enjoys spending quality time with family, yoga and traveling to rejuvenate and tackle the world again.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If starting over was an option, Marissa would take the acting route. Her dreams as a young girl were always to be an actress, but she never received the support needed to turn the dream into a reality, although this doesn’t mean it’s still not a possibility. As pop culture’s biggest influences have shown, talent and careers are no longer a one-dimensional idea. Marissa likes to think she can still be “whatever’ she wants to be when she grows up. 😊
