Today we’d like to introduce you to Constance Sanders.

Constance, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well being that I have been here for almost 5 years, I knew I wanted to do hair from day one. When you grow up outside of Atlanta you learn that it is the hair capital and when you actually get here you see why. I was amazed with all the new styles that I had never seen before and felt that I needed to be apart of it. I signed myself into school so that I could get my license. I was very determined I arrived 2 hours early every day, studied hard and made 100’s on 98% of all my test. After graduating I got a job driving trucks delivering gasoline, I just didn’t know how to get in the hair industry. With driving being my main job I started working in a salon part time. After realizing that there was no growth at that salon I knew I had to find something different if I wanted to get out of that truck. I started brainstorming and trying to come up with a name that had meaning and that would stand out. Prevail is not just the name of my salon but it has meaning. Many people struggle with their natural hair because it can be hard to tame. People come here to conquer their hair battles. Here I believe “No Struggle, No Battle, Just Beauty!” After being unsuccessful on finding a salon to go in another lady and I decided to get a suite. Neither of us was from Atlanta nor did we have any clientele we decided that if we found a great location and with hard work we would build quickly. We chose Salon Studios because everything around us is moving. Sad to say that my business partner had to pursue other things but I have held on and it is paying off. Pre’Vail Natural Hair Salon is a hair salon that specializes in natural hair. Our services are offered at reasonable prices, using all-natural products made to promote healthy, manageable, beautiful hair. We strive to give all clients modern, sophisticated, versatile styles. Pre’Vail specializes in chemical free services while paying superior attention to healthy hair and scalp. We use Jane Carter, which is a natural product and we also use organic hair color by All-Nutrient. I am no longer driving trucks, I am in the salon full-time, I have built up my clientele and it is still growing. Believing in yourself is key when wanting to make your dreams come true.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been smooth being that I had no clientele and my location expenses were not being met. I was literally driving trucks in order to pay for my studio. The first 3 months were the hardest. I was struggling with working a full-time job while trying to find time to build my clientele. I was only scheduling one client a week. My husband encouraged me to take a 45-day leave and see what happens. I did and have not been back since.

My vision is to be recognized nationally for excellence in customer service, satisfaction, and technical expertise. I am very proud and excited to be growing the way that I am. My schedule stays booked, I am normally under most booked in StyleSeat, and my ratings are rising on the internet. One of the things that myself as well as my clients believe sets me apart from other salons is the “Real One on One” time as they call it. It is where each client is individualized and given the attention and care that their hair needs.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Hobbs, a country town in New Mexico. I started doing hair when I was about 9 years old. Being from a small town there were no hair salons for miles. When I started doing my own hair I would get questions like “Who did your hair? Can you do my hair?” and so from then on I have been doing hair. About 80% were natural. I was self-motivated, happy go lucky, and always smiling. Not to mention I grew up thinking and knowing that I could do everything and become anything. I worked on cars, farmed, and volunteered.
