Today we’d like to introduce you to Dusei Da Great.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m a DJ from the Southside of Atlanta. A graduate of the Unsinkable Albany State University. Also, I’m a board operator/DJ for Streetz 94.5 FM & Mix 87.7 FM. Been in the media field for about 14 years. Started out on college radio 92.7 WASU. Then, started an internship at 96.3 WJIZ in Albany, Ga for college credit which turned into me getting my own weekend night show. Graduated college then moved back home to start my internship at Streetz 94.5 FM. After three years of being an intern, I gained employment. As for DJing, I began my career six years ago. Since then, I’ve Dj’d a numerous amount of weddings and club parties. I also had the pleasure of DJing sets and events for various recording artists such as T.I., Tiny, Crime Mob, Sammie, Pastor Troy, Kilo Ali, Mykko Montana, Yung Joc, and Zonnique. I’m also the resident DJ for Hip Hop Trivia ATL based in Atlanta, GA. Early 2018, I received the “Most Overlooked DJ” from the Salute The DJs Award show in Atlanta, GA. I guess you can say I have a unique story!
Please tell us about your art.
I DJ and MC. I love making the crowd dance, rap, and sing. I like playing the current hits, but I love playing the classics!!! I can play any genre of music. If partygoers had a good time from my set, then my job is complete.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I don’t think the role of artists has changed because the role as artists has always been the same. To inspire and motivate. Local, national, and international events affect my art in a significant way. The artist’s music that I spin have a platform to promote and shed light on events and issues on each level.
