Meet Gregory Smith of Resurrection Records in Midtown Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Smith.

Gregory, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began doing poetry about six years ago just going to local open mics, and showcases. I started to travel booking shows and selling a self-produced spoken word album entitled “The Agenda” about three years into my career and from there self-published three different poetry books.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to my modest success has been trying to say the least. I’ve experienced what many artists in my field has of course, from shady booking agents to failed venues, to rough crowds, etc but I’ve never felt the urge to quit. I went from barely making any noise to receiving the key to the city in Columbus GA a few hours south of Atlanta and receiving my own day in that same city for poetry I wrote about the city while spending time there.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Resurrection Records LLC – what should we know?
Resurrection specializes in entertainment and artist management. We have been blessed to have seven artists on roster and we have had modest success in streaming and marketing film, books, and television programs. What sets us apart from other companies is our dedication to making each artist, author or actor feel as if they are apart of the family and putting their individual needs in the forefront.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The best quality a successful person must have is vision. If you cannot see or visualize your success and the growth of your company you’ve already failed yourself and your clients. I tell all of my labels to think bigger than you’ve ever thought and to dream bigger than you’ve ever dreamed because there is nothing that can stop you from accomplishing what you desire.
