Meet Christina Diamond of Diamond’s Elite in Lithonia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Diamond.

Christina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ever been the kid in school with a 4.0? Expected to take the traditional route of a four-year college experience then off to grad school then into whatever field you graduated out of? Yup, those were the expectations set for my life WAYYYYY before I even knew what I wanted to do WITH my life for real… So I graduated high school with a 3.7 full ride to Valdosta State and fell in love with doing hair in my dorm… Crazy right??? I quickly then chose to make that my next career stop and glad I did…

A few months after choosing to completely change the course of my life, I forged my mother’s signature on my hair school application and I was on my way… For a long time I was worried about what my family would think of a “hairstylist”, but for the first time in a long time, I was doing something for ME. I graduated GCI at the top of my class. Top 10% to be exact and passed my state boards shortly after.

Going into a salon was so much different than clocking into a 9-5. I created my own hours, my own price list and even my own wardrobe… Why didn’t I do this sooner? There was no other direction but up from here for me .. Or so I thought … Everything about the beauty world is ever-changing, and if you don’t keep up, It’s definitely a world that will eat you alive. Once I learned that concept I started investing tremendously in my brand, I don’t have it all figured out yet, but I’m further now than where I was when I started.

Since starting in 2010, I have started my own Hair Company(The Diamond Collection), Created a growth oil, that actually works (Diamond’s Elite Growth oil), founded Elite Lashes which is a mink strip lashes line and created Diamond Tees which are cute hair inspired sayings catering to my clients. Some of the sayings include “My Stylist Spoils Me”, “Trust My Hair Is Slayed Under this Bonnet”, and my favorite “I speak Bundles Fluently”.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, It hasn’t been a smooth road because they’re dry seasons for stylists.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Diamond’s Elite story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in natural hair, weaves, and LOCS… Locs are my favorite thing to do… I’d say I’m known for Loc maintenance: coloring locs, detoxing locs, styling los and GROWING locs.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t consider it luck… I believe strongly in Devine timing… when it’s your time, the TIME IS YOURS.
