Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Millions.
Mike, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I got started in the entertainment industry by having a special passion for hip hop & the lifestyle. Growing up three things I was very interested in was sports, music & fashion. It was just something about the culture and lifestyle that I embraced since I was a little kid.
As the oldest son of two Nigerian parents, education was instilled in my background very hard and doing well in school and having good grades was the only option in my household growing up. Hip hop was influential in the sports & fashion world and vice versa. I just remember growing up playing basketball outside and coming home from school to watch BET or MTV. I love everything about the culture. My dad is a pharmacist and my mom is a nurse. Of course, being African they wanted me to do something similar to the career field but when I graduated high school, I knew I wanted to be a businessman and have my own company one day. I didn’t know how it was going to happen but I knew one day it will happen.
When my basketball & football dreams didn’t work out after high school, I focus more of my energy on the music industry and just to be a businessman overall. Even my first college after I change my major from pre-pharm to business administration with a concentration in fashion because I was into fashion a lot growing up and I knew I wanted to be a successful businessman. My peers wanted to be entertainers and had similar passion for music so that made me more eager to follow that passion so I ditched the fashion dreams. I even started a clothing line with a friend of mine. That was my first business idea that failed lol. After the fashion dream, I went on a vacation to Nigeria for three months in summer of 2013, then when I came back, I transferred to Kennesaw State University majoring in marketing.
During that vacation, a mutual peer of mine in the community that I went to high school at, blew up and became a famous rapper. I remember when he was a local rapper trying to get people to notice his music and we were all hanging out, going to the clubs, late nights, broke days & dreaming to make it big so we can take care of our families. We had an entrepreneur mindset from a young age. I knew I didn’t have the skills to be a rapper or entertainer so my passion for business led me to the decision of wanting to be behind the scenes. I wanted to play an executive role in the entertainment industry. While I was still in school, I join the famous rapper (K-Camp) that I knew promotions & marketing team to learn the in & outs of the industry and also support him and his career because I have a good heart and I genuinely wanted him and others to do well in life. While doing that I started developing more interest in the business aspect of the music industry. I was taking it more serious and studying on how to make this passion a career.
From 2014 to 2016 while I was working on his team, I was building my network, resume, using what I learned in school and diligently working hard to advance my career to the next level. In 2016, I decided I wanted to do management and be a manager, my first client was a model then subsequently after that I started managing and working with various independent artists in the Atlanta area. I even managed an artist from Toronto, Canada. In June 2018, I started my company Millions Management to build a direct correlation between indie artist and major labels and also industry personnel. Not only do I do management & marketing, I also do public relations and A&R, I am consistently working hard on my craft and building relationships to be a better influencer and leader not only in Atlanta culture but worldwide. My peers are recognizing my work & I am accomplishing my goals. I am very eager to learn every day and I am very confident that I will make a bigger impact in the industry one day. I have built substantial resources in LA, NYC, MIA & DC.
Currently, I am doing a lot community outreach events to bring influencers together to give back to the community in any way we can. I also work for a record label based out of Atlanta (T.I.G Records). My goal is to be an executive in the entertainment industry, have my own record label and own my own production/recording studio. My dream is to be a worldwide mogul and impact the world & influence other entrepreneurs that anything is possible if you work hard.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. When God has something great ordained for your life, the devil will find a way to distract you and mess up your life. I have overcome so many obstacles. Whether is friends and peers not supporting you. Failing out with people who don’t value and respect you as a person. I was treated unfairly but I took every lesson as an opportunity to be a better man. My family supports me but they didn’t understand my passion and why I wanted to do what I’m doing now. My parents moved back to Nigeria taking my two little brothers with them so for seven years I was by myself surviving and growing up to be the man that I am today. I was hanging around with people who didn’t fit my character just to survive and be accepted in a cruel society. I was basically forced to grow up but it made me better. I am a smart man but I made many mistakes on my own & take full responsibility. I had many toxic relationships and friendships it didn’t make no sense. I have a good heart and I was naive thinking everybody was gonna treat me like how I treat them. During those seven years when they was gone. I slept on couches, floors, cars, had so many bad days, broke days & trouble with the law. The only option I had was to pray and never give up. I’m very big on my spirituality. If it wasn’t for God & my family, I don’t know where I would be or would I even be able to share my story today.

I think of myself as million dollar check, Mike Millions is the brand & Millions management is the company.
What sets me apart is my dedication, consistency & resiliency to achieve greatness and never give up. I came to far in my life to not be successful. I refuse to give up.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have listen to my parents more because some of the things that were telling me was actually the truth and the betterment of my life. I also would have built a stronger relationship with God while I was growing up. Nothing is possible without God. I have a purpose in life and before I was born, he knew my purpose and how I was going to live my life. I was born to be great so in order to be great, I must let God direct my path. I definitely would have chosen better friends and associates. In order to be a successful businessman, you must have great positive people with solid character around at all time.
Business wise, I would have work even harder especially at the beginning phase, take advantage of more opportunities, separate business from personal, put myself in better position when dealing with clients and surround myself with business oriented people.
