Meet Araneetae Guy of Spa Creations Day Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Araneetae Guy.

Araneetae, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I had acne outbreaks in high school and used makeup to cover it up, but that didn’t work. It was just a cover-up, not a solution. It was unsatisfactory and left me wanting better solutions. I was already dealing with weight issues, so that just compounded things.

After college, I studied esthetics and skincare which led to me renting a booth as a nail tech. I eventually opened the first version of Spa Creations after recovering from childbirth, despite losing a vast majority of my clientele while pregnant.

After enduring several challenges including divorce and closing my Spa, I relocated to Atlanta to start over. Kings of Atlanta, a men’s grooming place, was the first to hire me. I also went back to school to update all my licensing and started teaching esthetics. While teaching, I was treating private clients out my home for a few years. I eventually re-opened Spa Creations, this time in Atlanta.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth road?? Not at all. Just a quick list of struggles have included:
– Faced discriminatory treatment (age, race, gender marital status) in the workplace
– Gut-wrenching divorce resulting from rampant infidelity
— Stressful work conditions
— Adjusting to life as a single parent while working full-time and going to school
— Poverty
— Starting over from scratch with nothing to building a storefront

Please tell us about Spa Creations Day Spa.
My business Spa Creations Day Spa is a brick and mortar Day Spa in Metro Atlanta offering clinical skincare services and contemporary makeup for events. We seek to offer the working class citizens a classic boutique style experience where customer service is a priority. We offer results-driven treatments to overcome skin conditions.

Spa Creations is the storefront & headquarters of Anneka’s Butter which is a full line of skin care developed in 2004 for my daughters Eczema and now is a global product. (See the story https://youtu.be/rfyjg6pW4Uk ) In 2017, I decided to take a chance and pitch my product Anneka’s Butter to Shark Tank. After that process, I realized I needed to get to work and market it to a larger demographic than my spa clients and teamed up with a marketing company. This has been a great turn to getting the product to market and adding on a luxury line infused with 24 K gold. I specialize in clearing skin condition that plague the masses of skin condition including Acne & Eczema (according to the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6044a9.htm.

What I’m most proud of is building my business throughout all the challenges and never giving up. This makes me smile because I can look my daughter in the eyes and tell her that if I did it, she can do anything she wants because she’s seen me do it. What sets me apart is that I’ve created a product & and a platform to showcase it that’s gone global. This makes our company the 1st African American owned Mother-Daughter Duo to launch and operate a product company that helps eczema/psoriasis that’s infused with 24K Gold.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have never let FEAR hold me back because I would have never been ashamed of my story. I would have told my story sooner and looked at it and smiled. My setbacks have made me strong and for a long time, I let the False Evidence Appear Real not knowing that in actuality the fallacy fear implanted in me was never my reality.
