Meet Jaybella Banks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaybella Banks.

Jaybella, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been a performer for as long as I can remember. Dance classes and teams, step team, band, and chorus. They all have helped and prepared me for who I am today. In 2010, was my first breakout when I joined a hip hop jade team. We performed at football games, battle of the dance lines also a couple of clubs. When I hit that club stage and the lights hit me. I knew right then what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Something in me ignited and there was this flame that I couldn’t put out even if I tried. In 2013, a star was born and her name was Jaybella Banks. I would do as many contest as I could and all the tip spots that were thrown at me. I worked hard and I played even harder. I Now it is 2019 and I am more booked than I can handle but I’m not complaining at all. I’m very grateful. I always have more to learn and room to grow. Mark my words Jaybella Banks will be on a tv near you. So be on the lookout. Because this star has been ready to shine even brighter.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been smooth sailing. From the Atlanta scene being so harsh to the old heads treating us the way, they were brought up. It was slick miserable but I have learned to roll with the punches. Also being an African American Trans woman who does drag is its own problem in itself. Trying to make people respect them both equally is a hassle but nothing I can’t handle. One of my biggest challenges and something I’m still working on is self-love!

Jaybella Banks – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am Jaybella Banks a Trans woman who is an entertainer and native to the streets in Atlanta. I specialize in shaking shit up and dancing the house down. I am the one the only TWERK QUEEN of Atlanta. I am very proud and confident Trans woman that won’t take no for an answer. Come to a show and you would definitely see what sets me apart from all other queens. Trust.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is making it television. Performing my own music and selling merch and spreading joy everywhere I go. But like I said I have more room to grow and more things to learn.
