Meet Bryant Waves of Reign Forever Music Group & Vándor in Decatur & Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryant Waves.

Bryant, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Society isn’t too keen on individuals going rogue. We’re taught to be robots and think within the confines of certain institutions, whether that’s religious organizations or the education system to name a few. Where is the push for freedom of expression? I had to ask myself how could I encourage people to live their dream, express themselves, and motivate others to do the same.

May of 2013, I met Maurice Armfield, someone I consider my older brother. I would always hear him free-styling about his life and I was inspired. From that point on I started to work on music. You know when you first start the true challenge is finding out how you want to tell your story, the next challenge is figuring out how you want to say it. Maurice’s brothers, Brandon “Coach Basic” Chisolm and Harold “CEO Self” Chisolm owned an independent record label. Maurice introduced them to me and I ended up signing to the label in March of 2017. Self took me under his wing and started to mold my raw talent into refined skill. He was very diligent with me and constantly stressed how a great artist has the ability to tell their story and captivate an audience. Music became my way to express myself freely without any constraints. I am an incisive individual, once my eyes are set on something I’m going to take it regardless of any obstacles, I am ambitious.

I fell in love with freedom of expression so much that I am creating my own brand called Vándor which means wanderer in Hungarian.

Has it been a smooth road?
I was adopted at two months old. It’s been a struggle trying to find out who I am when in reality I don’t know. Bryant Waves was my biological name and that’s all I had to hold onto. I have brothers and sisters I have never met, a Mother that gave me up for the “better”, and a father who I know fairly nothing about. Your mind wonders from a young age about the “why was I put up for adoption.” I couldn’t of asked for a better family but nevertheless, I still have a whole other life that is up for speculation at this point. How do I tell this story? This is a major part of my life, a touchy subject, and a constant battle in my heart and mind.

A smooth road doesn’t exist in the music industry. You’re at the mercy of the consumer and money at the end of the day. Making a fire song isn’t the hard part anymore; it’s implementing the roll-out strategy and strategically placing your product in the market place. Being an independent label, we don’t rely on major record labels to give us handouts or anyone for that matter. We take the long road instead of the quick route to sell out and follow the trends.

But what’s a dream without a struggle? Out of everyone in the world, only a percentage wakes up. Out of those who wake up only a percentage has a dream. Out of those who have a dream only a percentage follows them. Out of the ones who follow their dreams only a small percentage stays dedicated and overcomes struggles. I love the struggle, God won’t give you something you can’t handle, and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. In other words, God built me for this.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Reign Forever Music Group & Vándor story. Tell us more about the business.
ReignFMG is an independent record label based out of Decatur, GA. I am signed to them as a Recording Artist, and I am the Social Media Director of the entire label. As an Artist, it’s my job to tell my story in the best way possible and put the label on the map. As a social media Director, I assess the audience of the artist/member and implement new strategies to drive traffic to their platform.

As a company, I am most proud of our dedication, perseverance, and ability to act quickly when we’re thrown curve balls. Yeah, we have platinum plaques and accolades but none of those are possible without certain group characteristics and chemistry.

We have a plethora of different personalities which allows us to maximize our sound and our brand. To be straight forward with you, I don’t think there’s another label that can compete with ours. We’re all versatile, we have experience in just about every area of the industry, and this isn’t me being cocky this is just me being confident in our abilities.

Vándor is an apparel company launching in 2020 based out of Marietta, GA. Our mission is to create a platform to instill a new method of thinking while giving no direction in order to destroy the boundaries. I am the founder of this company. I’m in charge of marketing, I oversee operations and product development. As a company, I’m most proud of the creative response to the market by our team. We are implementing Blue Ocean Strategy into our entire business plan. We are going to sell the lifestyle of a wanderer. Every person goes through the stage in their life where they just feel like they’re just “going through life” or they “don’t know who they are.” People feel like they need to go through this stage alone, but our brand is going to empower this individual to embrace this new journey and explore new aspects of life.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Both the music and apparel industry are changing. Both are based on trends but the apparel industry has a new trend every year from season to season. We are paying attention to changes in the fashion industry but we are certain that the “lost” stage in and every individuals’ life will always occur… The music industry is slowly doing away with the need to be signed to a major record label. Soundcloud just became a distributor and made it possible for artist to upload their music to major platforms without the need of a label. Other third-party distributors like Distrokid and Tunecore made it easy for an artist to do this but SoundCloud is also a major listening platform.
