Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaundra Anderson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started B. Moore Events 11 years ago. My very first event was a corporate awards dinner with 100 guests. At the end of that event I was approached by one of the guests who was getting married soon and asked if I did weddings. I replied no, but would be happy to help where I could. That was my first of many weddings to come. I started this company by myself, but it has grown to a staff of 5. We plan events with budgets ranging from $30,000 to $100k+. This is a great time for us. After doing weddings for 10 years, we are going back to our roots and launching B. Moore Corporate and B. Moore Social all under the umbrella of B. Moore Events. Heading back to our corporate roots, we will plan, manage and execute corporate meetings, conferences and experiential events. We are excited to add a social arm that will plan children’s birthday parties, milestone birthday parties and showers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Just as with any company that is started, there are bumps in the road. I knew nothing about the industry when I entered the market. I had to pound the pavement to find reputable vendors and then use trial and error. The biggest job of a planner is to anticipate the needs of their client and to always have a plan b for any problems that may arise.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the B. Moore Events story. Tell us more about the business.
I am the CEO and Lead Event Coordinator for B. Moore Events. B. Moore Events is known for lavish weddings. We are super proud of the relationships that we have with our clients. They start off as clients but develop into lasting friendships. So much so, past clients have asked us to do other events for them (baby showers, birthday parties) and until now we were unable to. Our vendors set us apart from other event companies. We work with some of the best and because we have been doing this for so long, we have a certain ebb and flow. We pull the best out of each other and therefore create amazing and timeless events.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t know that I believe in luck. I believe more in favor and divine timing. Both have played a huge role in my success. I have been fortunate enough to meet wonderful people at the right time in my career and it’s helped my company soar.
