Meet Holly Doughty of HD Photography in Canton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Doughty.

Holly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am the owner and Primary photographer of HD Photography. My passion for photography started when I was in high school. I went to local farms and photographed antiques and animals. There wasn’t a day that went by that I did not have my camera in hand. Finally I started to realize what I wanted to be in life. “A Photographer.” I then enrolled in the Art Institute of Atlanta for Commercial Photography. I wanted to learn the commercial side of photography as well as the business side. I graduated from The Art institute of Atlanta with a Commercial Photography Degree. I served as an apprentice for several years under many different. Photographed anything and everything. I wanted to learn every aspect of photography there was. I photographed commercial, products, people, landscape, events, etc. After being a second shooter for several years, I then ventured out on my own and started my own company. After several years of operating as a location photographer I was able to open My Own Studio Location. While I photograph in studio now I have not moved away from my roots as an on location photographer. We are based out of Canton, Georgia but we travel to any destination worldwide to capture your moments. I do not limit myself to any particular specialization in photography. The sky is the limit, capturing your most important moments and images are our business. Photography is my passion and capturing your moments is my pleasure. Customer service our top priority, no need is to great, no job is too small. We strive to make every event and outing an enjoyable one. Every client will receive new and unique images to show off. During my adventures as a photographer I have encounter many different people from all walks of life, as such I have been able to capture so many treasured moments. We photograph in Our Studio Location and also On-Location at any location of your choice. Holly is Our Lead Photographer as well as Owner of HD Photography. Holly has two assistants that help her out at big events or weddings. We have grown exspenishal over the course of the past 5 years. Blossoming from one camera and a dream into a multi-dimensional photography outfit that has catered to metro Atlanta’s best and brightest. We specialize in many fields including Personal Resistantial and Commercial Photography. Our HD Photography client list grows everyday and we have expanded in many different fields of photography such as Commercial Photography, Interior / Exterior Photography, Product Photography / Catalog Photography, Landscape Photography, Engagement Photography, Wedding Photography, Event Photography which include Company Party Photography, Birthday Party Photography, Ballet Recitals Photography, Concert Photography, Portrait Photography which includes Studio Photography, Outdoor Photography, Business Head Shots, Band / Group Photography, Family Photography, Boudoir Photography, Maternity Photography, Birth Photography, Newborn Photography, Children Photography, Graduating Senior Photography, and Animal Portraits. Over the course of 5 years, HD Photography has worked with high end magazines, professional models, and massive corporations. We have ventured into fashion photography, working with various models and wild life. We enjoy photographing everything from commercial work, to families, to residential housing. We enjoy hearing newborns crying and children running through my studio or on location for portraits sessions. We have completed numerous projects for clients of all shapes and sizes. Varying from small families and intimate couple’s photography to large scale commercial jobs. From magazine spreads to real estate photography we have covered it all. We do not limit ourselves to any particular specialization. Every wedding event is different, and all of our clients have unique needs. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the first couple of years being in business was very hard. We struggled a lot of months. But by the 3rd year being in business we started seeing amazing results and so many companies and families hiring us all over GA to photograph them. Our business really took off year 3. Now this year we are bigger than we have ever been before and between social media and word of mouth our company has grown to a whole other level.

We are strong and keep fighting every day to be better than we were yesterday. I thank all of my clients all the time that hire us. We love our job and working and shooting for them.

Please tell us about HD PHOTOGRAPHY.
I specialize in everything. I never say no, I photography any person, any animal, any company, any situation. So we photography children of all ages, adults and family, even family events like Santa and Easter Portraits and birthday parties and Family reunions.

For companies, anything from headshots to company advertisements, company products, special social events and much more. Our business has grown bigger than most photographers or photography studios because we never say no and we shoot everything. Our work never gets stale and we never really shoot the same thing over and over. We are always shooting something new and exciting.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My mother. She was a single mom that owned her own business and worked so hard for me and my sister so we could do anything we wanted or needed to. When I found out I loved photography she bought me my first camera and I love ocean animals. Any animal in the ocean, I love it. My dream as a kid was to be a marine biologist but now that I am a photographer I love taking pictures of all marine life. So my mother saves enough money to take me to a place I could swim with all sorts of marine life, dolphins, stingrays, all sorts of ocean fish, and much more. I and My mother spent 10 hours in the water just taking pictures with my first camera of all the animals and having so much fun being around them swimming. I will never forget that memory. We still talk about it to this day. We even have pictures of me swimming around with the camera and kissing the dolphins. It was such an unforgettable moment me and my mother had together.
