Today we’d like to introduce you to Dalia Grey.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dalia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Photography and videography have always been a passion of mine since a child. But when I attended Fort Valley State University is when that passion became reality. In addition, meeting other students who were on the same track of exploring the art of photography. That day, I met my best friend and her passion was the same, since then, we have partnered on all things artistic and visual. With her constant support, we were able to embark on Book Club. Book Club is a YouTube show where we provide a platform for an independent artist to shine behind the art. We achieve that goal by spending time with the artist in their environment. Also, asking those questions fans and supporter may want to know. Book Club has given me the ability to strengthen other areas of my craft like editing, marketing and much more.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been extremely challenging, but worth the challenge. I believe you have to build a support team who can motivate you through the good and the bad. Also, I am not afraid of failure! Failure can also be deemed as lesson learned. Just go for it!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Book Club Music ATL – what should we know?
I believe Book Club is such a different platform because it’s more of a networking haven for an independent artist who may be missing that support team. Some of the artists have been able to collaborate and make music which is always a beautiful thing. And also, we serve as a marketing specialist for that artist as their interview is running. I am proud of the growth and the opportunity to give back and promote other people.
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
I think sometimes, we lack support and unity from other female leaders. I think people focus on the competition so much that we overlook the importance of unity.
