Life and Work with Zakiya Alta Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zakiya Alta Lee.

Zakiya Alta Lee is a woman who never stops moving! This love for movement led to her acceptance into the prestigious Florida State University School of Visual Arts and Dance. After two years at FSU, Zakiya was given the scholarship to train at the acclaimed Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York and returned to the Dance Department a stronger performer!

After receiving a BFA degree in dance and a minor in business Z decided to take a break from the theatre and explore the world of sports entertainment. Zakiya was invited to join the NBA Atlanta Hawks dance team eventually becoming a team captain and coach for the Jr. Hawks dancers. Little did Miss Lee know, that this experience would be the venture that would kick start her company Z Pro Prep®; an intensive training camp for individuals who desire to be on Pro NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB teams as dancers and cheerleaders.

After Zakiya’s time in Atlanta, she had a 4-year stint in Los Angeles where she filmed three national commercials, two films, and a television show. During this time she also executive produced and sold her first television pilot to E! Entertainment. Z’s many years of performing have taken her to cities such as St. Petersburg, Russia; Prague, Czech Republic; Monterrey; Mexico; Taipei, Taiwan, and various cities in China.

Currently, Zakiya is expanding Z Pro Prep® into multiple cities. With placements on professional sports teams such as the LA Lakers, Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Tennessee Titans, Golden State Warriors, NY Jets, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (just to name a few) Z is determined to reach as many women as possible to encourage and uplift all while spreading the message that “You Are Enough!”

Zakiya is truly a woman of God whose light shines no matter the circumstance, and is determined not to stop until she has achieved all of her goals!

Life purpose: “To uplift women.”
Life motto: “You are enough!”

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road is never smooth… that would be boring! You’ll hit lot’s of bumps along the way, but even when you’re in rough waters always swim with the current; never against it.

It’s interesting that within Z Pro Prep® my goal is “To Uplift Women”… I say that because I wasn’t always so confident. Being on a pro-NBA team with some of the most beautiful women caused me to compare myself sometimes… which is NEVER a good thing to do. But life has taught me to be unapologetically me! If you’re looking for Sarah, Sue, or Jane… I’m not your girl… but if you’re looking for Zakiya Alta Lee… I GOT YOU!

Never forget… in a world that tells you… you’re too tall… you’re too short… you need to lose weight… you’re too skinny gain a few pounds… know that YOU ARE ENOUGH! Right here… at this moment you have everything that you need to succeed and accomplish what Christ has given you to do! You got it, just keep going!

Oh… and if you’re just starting out… know that the only way you fail is if you quit. Enjoy the process… you’ll need the lessons learned along the way to sustain you as you gain more success!
