Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherie Nevett.
Sherie L. Nevett, a native of Atlanta, GA, was born and raised in Montgomery, AL where she began to recognize her love for fashion and became fully aware of her artistic gifts that were innately given by God.
At the age of 15, Sherie’s background in fashion design/marketing was rooted in her first job at a women’s apparel store in Montgomery, AL-The Crate. At the time, Sherie was a customer of the store and was noticed by the General Manager, who was impressed with Sherie’s sense of style, so much so that Sherie was offered her first job while shopping. During her time at the retail store, Sherie developed her taste for fabrics and appreciation of detail and quality in craftsmanship.
As time progressed, Sherie continued her journey of fashion and graduated from the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion Merchandising. Sherie moved from Alabama to Atlanta, GA to begin the journey that would help cultivate her as expertise in fashion apparel and design.
Sherie’s early industry experiences were as a showroom coordinator for a women’s apparel line Fran Reis & Co, a Regional Director for Tahari, then on to becoming a celebrity stylist. Currently, Sherie is the Creative Director for Sherie L. Nevett, a women’s apparel label launched in October 2012.
Her creative taste and bold vision have been influenced by her ability to see the beauty in everything. Her love of exotic travel, music, dance, and contemporary art is a constant fuel for her personal inspiration. Pushing boundaries for the sake of self-expression, she strives for each of her projects to reflect her passion and dedication to her career and clients.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being a small company it was difficult getting into retail stores. Typically, a brand has to have a huge name before any retailer/specialty store will open up doors.
Please tell us about Sherie L. Nevett Apparel.
SLN is a women’s apparel line known for its whimsical shapes, playful patterns, and colorful hues.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would spend less money on fashion shows and more on PR.
