Rezurrection is a gifted artist who spits his real-life tales of struggle, pain, addiction, and love into songs that not only teach but also move the body and soul.
Rezurrection uses real life as inspiration for his lyrics. A gifted live performer, Rezurrection is truly at his best when he is ministering the Gospel of Christ through his music.
Rezurrection writes and performs in the hope that people will be able to relate to his past and current struggles, knowing that through the Love of Christ, we can all overcome!
Rezurrection, an ordained reverend, is called to bring the Good News to the streets! He enjoys performing at block parties in different communities as well. Rezurrection is a believer in the local church and is a local church minded. His appeal goes beyond age, race, and musical preference barriers and simply reaches the heart of God’s people.
He currently has his own radio show on Stellar Award winning station God’s House of Hip Hop, (curated by Emcee N.I.C.E.), called RezNation airing on Thursday’s at 6 pm eastern through Dash Radio!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
From 2011 to 2016, I endured eight hip surgeries. During those five years, I became addicted to my pain medications and eventually moved to the heroin. I was delivered from shooting up heroin and miraculously began walking after being delivered! With a fake hip on the left and no hip on the right, I move through the Spirit of God knowing I am a walking miracle!
In January 2019, my wife and I moved our family from Florida to Atlanta in faith to receive a radio show and continue ministry in music. Things have been difficult paying two mortgages and also trying to fund a ministry.
Rez Nation – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I currently minister as an artist named Rezurrection. I travel and minister Gospel Hip Hop, along with bridging the gap in the Christian Hip Hop culture through my show RezNation. I give great unheard artists the chance to be heard! I have had to ability to be poured into by Emcee N.I.C.E., (Aulsondro “Emcee N.I.C.E.” Hamilton), learning the business and how to balance that with the ministry. I’m learning so much. We won the 2019 Stellar award for Hip Hop internet station. We’ve just been building the station. We’re up to 10 million listeners a month! I travel and do not ask for any compensation. I just want to spread the love of God through His Son, Jesus Christ.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is multi-faceted. Society determines success by job title, salary, home size, which car you drive, etc.
To me success is- setting a goal, working through the process, and achieving the goal. The size of the goal doesn’t matter, the passionate pursuit of accomplishing it does. Doctors told me that I wouldn’t be able to do the simplest of life’s tasks like putting shoes and socks on alone, but everyday my goal is to be able to do just that. Success is not just measured by what we have or what we can attain; it is the satisfaction of working hard and doing the best to our ability, even in failure.
