Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie West.
Jamie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
#Westcode is more so a brand of encouragement and enthusiasm more than a business, it’s a way of life and how I began and got started on it was just basically realizing that I am someone who was always giving advice and helping others. #Westcode popped into my head as I got started on my YouTube channel and podcast and I wanted there to be something where people can listen and not only relate but be able to take advice and feel positive and good about them and it’s gotten me pretty far I must say, people, know #Westcode is the only code to go by the right way.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely was a long bumpy road, I faced depression, having an up and down relationship with my mom, not feeling confident enough within myself to even go on with #Westcode and other projects like my music and acting but I had to realize that everything I was going through was making me stronger and molding me into becoming a better person. I never stopped because time doesn’t wait for anybody and the minute you even think about taking a breath, your time will have passed you up.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’ve always looked at myself as a jack of all trades, I do music, I act, write poetry and short stories and on my downtime I even get into a little virtual design and construction where I make banners and logo’s just for fun or if I need to, make a cover for my next song. But the major talent I specialize in is being me and that is a job itself. When it comes to #Westcode all the things I’ve previously named all go into that, I put together the music for the podcast, the topics, answering questions from fans, and even having an interview here and there. If I was to be known for anything, it’s the positivity I’m always pushing out through #Westcode and what sets that apart from others is that it will never die even when I’m long and gone and it will always be a movement and not just for giggles or to be famous. It’s all to get a head start on world peace as corny as that may sound.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Usually, I always say I’m my biggest cheerleader and motivator but honestly, my mom takes the cake on that, it’s always been me and her, so whenever I’m doing good or have something going on, I know she will always be in my corner. I’ve learned a lot from @OfficialMarq and @TheRealKaron, without them, I wouldn’t even have this interview with you guys. Now, to be honest, I’ve never had a mentor which is what I think pushed me even more because I didn’t have anybody to look up to other than the person I wanted to become every day. I notice that I’m just a little bit close to becoming him who is thee future icon Jamie West.
