Meet Amira Otiti of Amiras’s Touch in Sandy Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amira Otiti.

Amira, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started 12 years ago in a volatile section of Brooklyn named Brownsville where I did hair as a hobby. When money became involved it turned into a great convenience. In 2007, I had my first child that needed a surgery a few years after, that stopped me from being able to work. But I was able to make a few coins, in the comfort of my home and within hours, styling all my family and friends hair. At that moment, I fell in love with being an entrepreneur.

I had no idea what being an entrepreneur entailed. All I knew is that I wanted to be hairstylist, work for myself and own a salon. I went to Empire Beauty School, graduated and was licensed!!! Years went by as I worked in numerous salons, learning all the pros and cons as a stylist, taking notes on how a salon can be better, learning the business aspects and also learning great customer service. Yet I was still not fulfilled. I was lacking the right support and knowledge and things seemed to be at a stand still.

In 2013, meeting my soulmate; the vision grew! 2015, new marriage, 2nd child and a new move!!! ATLANTA.

Everything took a turn for the best. God put us in situations that forced the vision I’d been so nervous of to become a reality; An entrepreneur and business owner.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road I’ve had my share of obstacles. For starters, being new to Atlanta and establishing a strong clientele was a struggle. As fast as you want it to grow, remember slow and steady wins the race. Learning to overcome the slow periods in a business without getting frustrated and giving up. Which is one of the first options a lot of new entrepreneurs take. Work- life balance was also a struggle because I want to be successful in my business and in my home.

Amiras’s Touch LLC – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Amira’s Touch is a full-service hair salon, specializing in silk press and weave installations. I’m known for doing the fastest and most efficient sewins. I offer a variety of extensions; tape in, microlink, cold fusion and the braidless method. Best bundle deals and great custom wigs. I take pride in providing my clients with outstanding customer service, understanding that no client is alike and giving them what they need. Being consistent and reliable is what sets me apart from others.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is being totally fulfilled with the results of all the goals you set out to accomplish. Having peace of mind, breaking generational curses so that things are easier for my children and theirs. Accomplishing what the heart desires while maintaining my dignity and doing it with integrity. Success looks different for everyone but with hard work and dedication; it will come.

For still the vision awaits is appointed time; it hastens to the end- it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3 (ESV)
