Meet Nadia Bilchik of Greater Impact Communication

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia Bilchik.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 1997, my husband, two young daughters and I left Johannesburg, South Africa and came to live in Atlanta. I was a television anchor in South Africa and had a media and presentation skills training school there. Shortly after arriving in Atlanta I started anchoring for the CNN Airport Network and hosted various shows on CNN International including On The Runway, Showbuzz and a money segment on Inside Africa. I then transitioned into being an editorial producer for CNN and reporting for the Weekend Morning Passport. I have always had two parallel careers, broadcasting and keynote speaking and communication skills training. Atlanta has been an extraordinary city to live in because of companies like Coca-Cola, Home Depot, Porsche etc who are my clients.  Also I speak and train all over the country and there is always a direct flight!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Moving countries and continents has been enormously challenging and while Atlanta has been a remarkable place to make our new home, I will always miss South Africa, the place I spent the first 31 years of my life.
Another enormous challenge was recreating a support system and also re-establishing my career.

In South Africa, my television career gave me instant credibility, in the US my biggest challenge was having to re-Brand myself. I am so fortunate to be able to share my journey and the lessons learned with audiences at all stages of their lives and careers.

Please tell us about Greater Impact Communication – what should we know?
The best way to describe what I do is in a single word: RAMPLIFY – I work with individuals, teams and large groups to ramp up their overall presence and amplify the impact they have on their target audience. Some of the topics I cover in my training programs and keynotes include: Own Your Presence, Brand You, Maximize your Presentation Skills and Network for Success. The purpose of all my programs is to increase participants self-awareness and give them tips and techniques that are immediately actionable. I have also written several communication skills books including; Own Your Space, Small Changes, Big Impact, Life after college and Own your Network. Having interviewed world-renowned figures and celebrities such as Nelson Mandela, George Clooney, and Meryl Streep and spoken to audiences from Dallas to Dubai to Durban, I draw on all my experiences to motivate and inspire others.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Sure! No one is ever successful in isolation. Walt Disney famously said:
Whatever we have achieved is because other people have helped us!

I have been so fortunate to have worked for CNN. The global experience and vastly diverse group of colleagues I have had the pleasure of working with have contributed so much to my growth and success. I have also been so privileged to partner with superb learning specialists at Coca-Cola, Home Depot, Porsche, Samsung, Georgia Tech, Northeastern University amongst numerous other companies to bring my keynotes and workshops to their employees. AND Nelson Mandela, my ultimate role-model and inspiration who showed the world that through the right message and a powerful messenger, miracles CAN happen!
