Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Zappia.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Prospect Farms is a family run business that was founded last May by my parents Doug & Jackie Brown as well as myself as a destination for photographers to come and bring their clients for photo sessions. My professional background has always been in marketing and advertising but my heart has always been very entrepreneurial. I am also the co-founder of Southern Hollywood Events and have worked in movie business in Atlanta off and on since 2010. After marrying and having three amazing kiddos I became a full-time stay at home mom. However, a simple idea that my dad came up with of planting a wildflower field for photographers at our family farm has exploded into a thriving business and what many call, “Photography Heaven”. My mom Jackie and I run the business and pour our heart and soul into every aspect of what we do at the farm and are always trying to create new and exciting photo opportunities for our clients.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have such an amazing family and luckily we work extremely well together. The only obstacle we’ve really faced is growing faster than we can keep up with! A simple idea has turned into a full-time job for everyone in our family.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Prospect Farms – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Thank you! Honestly our business concept is pretty unique and I can’t say that we know of anyone else that does what we do! We pride ourselves on being “Photography Heaven!”. We are a destination for photographers to come to for photo sessions with their clients. Some call us a photographers playground. We have open fields with tall grasses, three vintage tree swings, a daffodil field (March/April), wildflower field (May/June), Scottish Highland Cows and goats, bridge, Sunflower field (July/August), pumpkin patch (October), a barn, a new natural light photography studio and neighboring Christmas Tree Farm, all on the 21 acre farm. We book sessions at our farm by appointment only and limit the amount of photographers in the field at one time so everyone can get a great shot! We also have rental items that include a 65’Ford blue Truck, a 52’ Ford red Tractor, a vintage baby carriage, vintage tandem bicycle & more!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are always coming up with new ideas and attractions for our photographers. We just completed construction on our new barn with a natural light photography studio on one side! It has a gorgeous 10ft wide reclaimed window on one side that overlooks our field & stunning sunsets! It’s the perfect rental space for photographers for boudoir, Christmas and milestone sessions.
