Today we’d like to introduce you to Grant Goodwin.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Grant. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been around cameras, playing with disposables when I was younger, being around a video camera for home videos, etc. I first started out by being interested in video editing which I fell in love with, and then I decided to try and film my own videos which did not work out in the best way. After that, I figured that instead of video, why not try out photography. Now, here I am a couple of years later doing my best every day to try and learn as much as I can and experiment with different styles.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been an amazing journey so far. I would not call any point in my career a struggle as much as it is a learning experience. Sometimes it gets difficult to come up with ideas on the spot or plan a shoot if I am going through a mental block or get busy with school. I tend to try and pull myself out of those slumps by experimenting with artistic ideas until I create something I love.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lanier Photo – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I would call myself a freelance photographer at the moment. At what point does “freelance” turn into “professional”? I have no idea, but I hope to become that at some point in my life. I am most proud of the art that I have created and putting a smile on someone’s face when they look at their photos. I love being able to create memories that people are able to look back on and see a genuine emotion. I am not exactly sure what sets me apart from others at the point. We all have the same goal to do what we love and create something beautiful. At some point, I would hope to start sending messages with my craft that can give meaning to everyone who looks at it rather than the person it is created for.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Atlanta is such a creative, beautiful city to learn about and express yourself without fear of not being accepted. There are so many different personalities, so many different types of people to meet and connect with that provide opportunities to network even further. I haven’t exactly found a negative about Atlanta other than the traffic, and I hope it stays that way.
