Today we’d like to introduce you to Presly Mckeever Jr.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Presly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started getting tattoos at the age of 14 and I could always draw my designs for my tattoos. As I got older, my personal tattoo artist (Chuck) influenced me to tattoo. So eventually, I got my starter tattoo kit at the age of 19 and started tatting out of my mom’s garage in Athens, Georgia.
I would say I got my clientele up from knowing so many people in Athens, as well as my sister being enrolled at Georgia State at the time, she helped me gain a following in Atlanta, in addition to taking on DC Young Fly and Pink Bitch as clients.
Outside of that my sister Aundrea helped me to connect with more people to expand the growth of my business and brand.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it has not been a smooth road because I am a self-taught artist that continuously tries to learn everything involving the profession. Majority of the struggles I encountered would boil down to learning to perfect my craft, dealing with clients and pricing, and separating business and family in my everyday life.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
I am a tattoo artist that specializes in black and gray realism. I have my own unique style. I think what separates my business from others would be the team and company I have around me at Atlanta Ink.
I am most proud of being as successful as I am and having the trust of clients to bring my craft and their creations to life. I think my personality and my willingness to understand every situation from every side as well as my will to want to be the best role model for my kids sets me apart from others.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far has been opening Atlanta Ink with my brothers, Kali, Ville, CJ, and Hobo.
Inkman from Awesome Ink prepared me to be in the position I am in today.
