Today we’d like to introduce you to Chef Tiffany Moore.
Chef Tiffany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Oh my! Where do I start? Hi, I was born in Jackson, MS but was raised in Southwest Atlanta! I am a medically retired disabled Army Veteran, Serial Entrepreneur, Mother to 1 amazing son, daughter to an amazing businesswoman. I am also a two-time cervical spine surgery survivor. My mother and I own an event venue in SW Atlanta, Event Hall @ Cascade. We opened it in 2011 shortly after my little brother passed from Sickle Cell Anemia. We were the first event venue in the SWATS and neighboring cities and we are still going strong! Event Hall @ Cascade was supposed to be the location for my restaurant. I initially had a cupcake company, Taste-T Cafe from 2009-2011. I had celebrity clientele, did a lot of amazing events with some great brands… but an injury I sustained during my deployment to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004, left me temporarily paralyzed and unable to walk for about 3 months in 2011-2012. My C4-5 disc pushed through my spinal cord and cut off my spinal fluid flow. I am supposed to have a 3rd spine surgery soon as my disc is bulging again and I am in pain immensely. I finally accomplished my dreams of completing culinary school this year. In the past, I had to stop because of deployment, being a single mother, and my never-ending medical and spinal cord issues. I am where I am today because I never gave up on myself, I never gave up on my life. Travel with Travel Moore, Let me feed you life through Chef Tiffany Moore, Make “Moore Memories” at Event Hall @ Cascade, and get some dope swag with XoXo TiffMo.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been an easy road..and whoever said what you want will come easy is a liar. Life will happen. Good and bad. Life will come along and shake things up and either you adapt and overcome, or you get stuck in the sand in the hourglass of time…gasping for life. Time is the universe’s currency to us. Time owes us nothing, we owe it to ourselves to live our lives the way we visioned. I used to wake up and be paralyzed from the neck down. Scariest feeling ever. I am telling my legs to move, my arms to move, but nothing is happening. Although I haven’t had that happen in a few years, my right and left arms to go out on me weekly. I have to remind my legs to move sometimes if I am walking. Pain… it is unbearable… but I have to keep on pushing. I have had to alter my end goals because of medical, but everything I do comes back to food, event planning, and making “Moore Memories”.
Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
My companies?! You got a pen and time?! Let me just tell you all of them first, Event Hall @ Cascade, Chef TiffMo, The Food Artist, Travel Moore, my travel company, XOXO Tiffmo, my online boutique, and The Moore Creative Group which was created this year as the parent company to house all my babies. I specialize in creating memories, curating amazing events, and feeding life into my clients and their guests with my delectable food fusions. What sets me apart is the fact that I care. I am feeding life into you, I am pouring life into you, so I do everything with good intentions. I am most proud that we have sustained a brick and mortar building for eight years. My culinary achievement that I am definitely proud of is catering an event for First Data and Syracuse University and the Former Mayor of Liberia, Clara Doe-Mvogo. I also was chosen to give the graduation speech at Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts this year.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Southwest Atlanta is home!!! And there is no place like home! I love that Atlanta is a city where you can flourish and live your dreams. It really is the Black mecca of business owners and budding entrepreneurs. Not everyone can survive here though. If you come here looking for handouts and thinking it’s going to be easy to “make it”. Think again. What I like least, is the traffic. Why is there traffic in the middle of the day when people supposed to be at work. LOL.
