Today we’d like to introduce you to Keive Gordon.
Keive, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve wanted to model since a young age but didn’t have the confidence to. I didn’t look like the beautiful women on the covers of the magazines I saw; I was chubby and had scars on my face. As I got older, I began to see the fashion industry change as more and more plus-size boutiques, apparel, and finally full-figured models on the runways breaking barriers. It was then that I began to build my confidence. I continue that journey today by not only getting back into modeling, but being an encouraging word for other women to follow through workouts, dance, posting inspirational quotes/messages, and how to’s on poses, runway walks, etc.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Modeling is a competitive environment within itself, but now adding the barriers that full-figured women are breaking daily makes it that much harder; it’s no longer about being the best but you need to be the best of the best and train hard.
The advice that I could give anyone that has a dream of doing something is to go for that dream no matter what. Find yourself something that creates motivation and confidence within you; whether that’s dancing, motivational quotes, a person that has a journey similar to yours, etc. and manifest on that.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I am currently a Manager at the Atlanta Airport.
I specialize in Customer Service and the Development of people.
I am most proud of the determination that I have to be successful
What sets me apart from others is that I am or willing to give up so easily and I keep going even when others say I can’t pr shouldn’t be/do something.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
I Google daily plus-size model quotes every day for inspiration.
I am always studying my Kraft and house YouTube as a tool to practice model poses, what makes a great runway walk.
I take coaching classes with Danielle Baker.
