Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Moon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kristen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I founded Moon Prep after spending over a decade as an SAT tutor and instructor, both for Kaplan Test Prep and privately through my own business. I saw my students scoring in the top percentiles, yet they still weren’t being accepted to their top-choice colleges.
At first glance, it wasn’t apparent what went wrong. The students had high GPAs, top SAT scores, and great extracurricular activities. After closer examination, it became clear what the issue was: THE APPLICATION.
The application did not set the student apart from the pack. It failed to convey what they had to offer the college and why they were a great fit.
By utilizing the valuable branding and marketing strategies I learned while getting my MBA from Emory University and drawing from my experience working with students over the years, I created a sure-fire method that helps applicants go the extra mile, communicate their value, and stand out from the masses.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When you own your own business you must wear many hats. I love the hat that allows me to help students and families, but I rather not wear the sales or accounting hat sometimes.
