Meet Marcus Whitaker of Marcus Cloud in East Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Whitaker.

Marcus, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started taking photography seriously at the beginning of Jan’ 2015 photographing mostly Nature, Street, & Cityscape photography. I initially didn’t start photographing portraits until Summer of 2016 with the help of my old mentor, Earnesto Martinez. @sanjifilms taught me the basics of how to use a DSLR Camera, creative direction and also how to capture people in natural lighting. I appreciate His help tremendously to this day & hope he’s doing well. From there, I developed my own style and began collaborating with different muses/creatives throughout Atlanta and began traveling to other cities as well to create with.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth road. It’s been a bittersweet road to say the least. I’ve had my cameras stolen from me twice. Once in New York & then again here in Atlanta near the Old Fourth Ward Skatepark. I’m deeply grateful for the time I had with those cameras, they truly helped me build a strong clientele and portfolio that is timeless in my eyes.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Marcus Cloud – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in all kinds of photography. I shoot weddings, maternity shoots, anniversary photos, real estate photography & I do photoshoots for my own personal portfolio and help aspiring muses build their portfolios as well. I am most proud of the impact I’ve made on people I have never met in my life. People randomly reach out to me and tell me how inspiring my work has touched them to pick up a camera themselves. That itself inspires me to keep going. What sets me apart from others is my poise to keep moving forward in my own authentic lane to create my own concepts/visions. The more organic you are within your own creations is what sets you apart from the crowd.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to drop my first tablebook. I intend to start printing in 2020 and allow my audience to select & purchase their favorite photo(s) of mine to have printed & framed to hang in their own abode. I’m looking forward to traveling more & creating more art with genuine muses/artists who are thriving to make a divine impact on the world & conform against the ways of society.
