Meet Adrianna Bowe of Toothalicious in Kennesaw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrianna Bowe.

Adrianna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a 21-year-old Tooth Gem Technician and a Lash Artist Technician. Back when I was 14 years old, I always knew I wanted to own a business and have a storefront one day. At that time, I was making phone cases for $10 and I started to notice that my company “Paisely Phone Cases” was growing and my clientele was getting bigger and I was mostly getting my sales from Facebook so I made over six cases a day and had $600 in my pocket every week, then I went on to making bath bombs “Bedazzle Bombs“. I sold my big bombs for $20 and my small bombs for $10, then I went on to sale lashes and doing lashes for $15-$20 and so from there, I started becoming more into lashes and decided why not take a lash class to further my career.

After I got my certification in lashes, I notice that doing lash extensions wasn’t for me but I knew I can teach it, so I started to take it more seriously and started practicing and practicing on my mannequin and a human and also, I was watching YouTube. So, YouTube basically gave me even more knowledge of different methods, sanitation, and more. I didn’t want to waste my certification because I did pay for it, so I decided why not just teach it so I got comfortable with it and started showing people how to do lash extensions. I’m also a Tooth Gem Technician and that’s my happy place. I love teaching people how to do tooth gems. When I got certified, I was super happy but I notice the person who taught me didn’t teach me everything I should have known so again I learned everything on my own and learned about certain things that I should have known about before. And now, I feel comfortable sharing what I know to others. So basically, I’m self- taught I always tell people. I’m a multi-talented person and I know whatever I touch, basically will turn into gold.

Fast-forwarding to now, I’m a college student. I’m in my junior year now and basically, I’m just trying to pay for college and trying to help myself get where I need to be. Being a technician in both parties have been good to me and have been making my money ever since.

Has it been a smooth road?
Being a tooth gem technician and a lash artist have not been easy for me. Being a lash artist was very challenging for me because when I realized that this takes time and more time consuming it kind of gave me a bad feeling because I needed something fast and just something I can get people in and get them out. And then, when I started doing tooth gems, I really loved it but then, I started noticing that some tooth gem business didn’t like that I was doing tooth gems. One tooth gem business told me that “I was a disgrace to the tooth gem community” and that comment that he/she made towards me had me on a discouragement feeling, basically had me second-guessing myself if I was right for this, but I decided to not give up because I started this and I’m the one going to be the one to finish it not no one else. So, my advice to anyone that in my shoes is to not give up and keep your head up because God is going to put you through this test to see if you’re going to be able to handle this. Because when I was going through this, God just made me realize that I have to have tough skin to be in a business and not everything is going to be good.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I specialize in Tooth Gems and Lash Extensions. I’m most known for Toothalicious. The thing I’m most proud of about my business is that my business is very reasonable and my trainings are very much worth it and I make sure all my trainees know what they are doing before they leave Toothalicious. I don’t charge an arm and two legs because not everyone can afford a $2500 training but my trainings is around $320 and the deposit goes towards the service which makes it more better for the person and you can also get more business if you start small. I’m not saying I will not raise my prices because I do have to profit but it wouldn’t be too much money. I try to reason with people because I know people don’t have a lot and they’re trying to take a class to make more money and create a better life. But I am doing other things so I can add more services, so I can say I am doing more things and will be offering more services to my people.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Of course, I feel like Atlanta is a good place because everyone does lashes, makeup, facials and more in Atlanta. But tooth gems are more popular in California, so me being from the south of ATL, I wanted to do something different and try to get people to do tooth gems here. I’m definitely bringing something new to the table.
