Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Haleh Robinson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Faith Haleh. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started when my family bought a VHS tape recorder. Little did we know, I was going to take over this new bulky toy and create mini productions. I was about eight-years-old when I busted out the retro handheld camera and started videotaping dances, performances for my family, and teaching lessons in front of my dolls and stuffed animals. I was YouTube’ing it before YouTubers became a thing. But more like YouTap’ing.
My fascination with photography and videography started when I was little, but my passion for journalism started when I was in high school. I enrolled in a broadcast journalism class my junior and senior years. My teacher took our class on a field trip to one of Atlanta’s local TV news stations, WSB-TV.
As we walked through the halls of the station, I got to view poster-size pictures of Atlanta’s finest journalists and photojournalists in action—grabbing their cameras and microphones to discover and tell the latest story. The reporters and photojournalists were shown jumping out of their helicopters ready to cover the action. The close-up images showcased their grit—it was so inspiring. My heart started beating out of my chest while strolling through the halls of WSB. I was in such awe.
It was the promo news trailer that really got me hooked. The storytelling, the delivery of news. It was all so exciting. The moment the trailer finished, I turned to my teacher and told her, “That’s it. I’m going to be a journalist.”
After graduating from university, I chased after one of my earliest dreams. To work at CNN. I remember the day and time I got “the call.” I was ecstatic. I ran into my mother’s room jumping up and down, waking her up to tell her, “I got THE job!”
I spent over a decade pursuing my passions as a journalist/producer at CNN, working my way up from a video journalist, script runner, coffee runner (I got a lot of steps in!)…production assistant for Anderson Cooper, associate producer for HLN’s Clark Howard Show, Morning Express with Robin Meade, live-shot producer for CNN international, cross-platform producer, and to my eventual favorite role—field producer.
After 11 years, it was time to take a new adventure and enter into the wild world of freelance. I started working for other companies and slowly began planning a trip overseas to acquire another skill.
Before departing CNN, I noticed there were a lot of stories coming out of central and south America countries. There was a need for Spanish speakers to help cover Latin America assignments. It totally made sense. I figured I could go learn Spanish and see where it led. I asked a lot of my Spanish colleagues recommendations on where to learn Spanish for broadcast news, and many pointed to Colombia.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Maybe not a smooth road, but more like biking through hills and valleys. Some days you’re like, “Yas! I’m on the right path! Let’s do this!” and some days, it’s like, “What on earth am I doing?! Where am I going? When is this going to happen?” It’s like going back and forth to the drawing board and figuring out, “okay…does this align with my goals? Does this align with my vision?”
With everything in life, we can all experience struggles. Sometimes it’s learning to be more patient. I would like things to happen a little bit faster, but I’ve learned that it’s a process.
The lesson I’ve learned along this gift of a journey is knowing that I’m not perfect, and I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). I am still a work in progress. We all are and that’s okay. That’s where grace comes in. We are constantly growing and learning. It’s a humbling and beautiful process.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about FaithHaleh – what should we know?
FaithHaleh LLC. is a brand new baby on the block. It’s tiny, but mighty—and still growing. I’ve had FaithHaleh in mind for many years but just didn’t know how to get the ball rolling, until this year. Faith is my first name and Haleh (prono: Haw-Leh) is my middle name. Haleh means halo in Farsi (Persian). It’s a mixed media canvas for all my passions: traveling, photography, videography, health and wellness.
My company is all about serving large and small businesses through creative content, including photography, videography and content creation. The focus and mission is storytelling through writing articles, field producing, editing, videography, and photography.
My hope is to share positive and inspiring stories by highlighting business owners or field producing. I really enjoy capturing individuals trying to change the world by helping others. I also love advocating health and wellness through nutrition and ways to keep your body healthy; especially while traveling or working in stressful environments.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Kindness, compassion, empathy, respect and my faith. In a world where we can become so distracted, it can be really difficult to stay focused. My north star is my faith. Praying and asking God for guidance, direction and His blessings. Without Him, I’m really just floating in the air. With Him, all things are possible. “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13
