Today we’d like to introduce you to Leif Hendrix.
Leif, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
NEW KINGDOM MUSIC DROPS FROM ARTIST KIING VII DECEMBER 2019.
When the words GOD, WORSHIP, and CHURCH come to mind, what are your first thoughts? Do you think of an old man with a long, white beard telling you what not to do? What about singing quiet, “friendly” hymns as the offering buckets “clatter” from the change of the bottom of your grandma’s pocketbook? Or do you have a different experience all together? No matter what nostalgic memory comes to mind, truth is, most of the world doesn’t associate that with the words DOPE, ENTERTAINING, or FREEDOM. Well, one song from Kingdom Music artist, Kiing Vii, will not only turn heads and raise eyebrows but will revamp the world’s entire outlook of how DOPE God truly is!
What happens when you mix a little bit of trap music and a lot of God’s power with a voice that moves a crowded room? You get a DOPE artistic genius who has mastered the art of ENTERTAINING, both on the mic and in the lab, who demonstrates the FREEDOM to WORSHIP GOD outside the limits of CHURCH… And that is Kiing Vii.
Since his adolescent years, Kiing Vii, then known as “Redd Fyve”, has always had a musical genius inside him, itching to escape and expose the world to a different sound, but was the world ready to hear it? This young rapper-turned teenage mega-producer was cooking up full course meals for many of the music industry’s top award-winning artists, yet many were still unaware of this musical phenomenon. From achieving the rank of #8 Tight-End in Georgia, running the school radio station, and becoming scouted by some of the nation’s top Division 1 schools, to being introduced to a world full of money, drugs, and power, Kiing Vii became known for all the wrong reasons and began piling too much onto his own plate. It wasn’t until he lost all his scholarships, was dropped from school, and almost lost his life, when Kiing Vii realized he needed to make an immediate change.
Still possessing a passion for music and a consistent godly foundation, Kiing Vii ambitiously re-energized his efforts to focus on how God had instructed him to utilize his musical abilities: “To reach people who have the same experiences and need help navigating through life’s toughest moments.” Once he made a complete turn for the better, all his musical lanes were open and he was fortunate to meet and work with some of the Kingdom’s most prestigious names, such as Grammy-nominated and Stellar Award-winning artist, Canton Jones, who has since then become a mentor and brother throughout his life. From there, Kiing Vii curated multiple musical relationships with artists like Pastor Troy, Scrappy, Lil Jon, 1kPhew, and more which along with multiple life lessons have all been counted as major influences in all his musical projects.
“ [Kiing] Vii is a monster producer with a voice that commands attention,” proclaims artist/producer Canton Jones.
And we couldn’t agree more!
Fast forward to December 2019 with one “Hood Alert” album and countless musical projects to his name, Kiing Vii is releasing his new album, “Eternal”, with the ‘hood’ and the ‘trap’ in mind. With songs like “Can’t Do” that boast about the infinite power of God and “Light Show” that shows us how to stay lit no matter where we go, Kiing Vii mixes powerful 808’s and trumpets with his ‘my brother’s keeper’ mentality to lead the streets, the exact ones from which he managed to break free.
“Eternal” drops December 2019 on all music streaming platforms.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Lost a lot of people and many times lost friends because of the way I chose to live my life. Struggled financially as well. Trying to keep a job while simultaneously working on what God created me to do, I’ve ended up losing my job and now I am fulltime with my career. Now with a wife and son, the pressure is on me, even more, to provide for my family.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am my own business… my own company… I am an artist (rapper) named Kiing Vii. My music is God + the TRAP! a lot of 808’s and trumpets, mixed with a down south Atlanta vibe. I am most proud of being able to show the world the DOPEness of God. He has blessed me with the ability to produce, rap, write, as well as create my own graphics for all my projects. I am proud of being able to give the world a sound that they love while introducing them to a God that loves them.
I believe what sets me apart from other artists and people alike is that I will not stop. Period. I have undergone many ordeals, missed many opportunities, been thrown here and there, and have had many trials and tribulations, but I am determined to keep going and keep renewing my faith in God. Because I realize this is not only about me and my family, but this is about helping other people and other families to get through. I know God’s got me, even when I can’t see it in the moment. He’s there, and nothing and no one will stop me from believing in His word and His promises for my life.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking into starting a state-of-the-art Youth Development center for underprivileged kids that have artistic abilities or want to develop them and do not have the means or the benefits to do so. If I can affect the future, they won’t be affected by their past.
