Meet Marjorie DiFiore of Atlanta Stylish Point in Roswell – East Cobb

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marjorie DiFiore.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I immigrated from Venezuela in 2004 seeking a better life and more opportunities. I came straight to Atlanta and worked a nanny and a waitress for a few years as I began to learn English. Fate would have it that I met a wonderful local guy (now my husband since 2007) who was very supportive of my dreams. As soon as I could, I enrolled at Georgia State’s English as a Second Language program. I always knew I wanted to do something creative and with design, so I worked hard to get the best education I could, and had the privilege of attending SCAD where I received a BFA in Interior Design. Unfortunately, right as I was graduating, my husband got a great opportunity and we moved to a small town in South Florida where my professional opportunities were limited. There, we started a family and eventually moved back to Atlanta. Upon returning home, I found it difficult to balance the responsibilities of a professional career with being a mom (to two wild and wonderful girls), and so I focused on being a mother for several years. During that time, I began scratching my design itch through party design and decor. The possibilities for applying design and creativity to parties is endless, and I started Atlanta Stylish Point. I’ve been very fortunate to have partnered with some other great artists, and have had some very happy, repeat clients, including some hometown professional athletes. As my girls get older, I have more time to devote to my creative passions. My favorite activities include attending, managing, and leading workshops to expand my repertoire, as well as connecting with others who are interested in expressing their creativity. I also love learning and applying technologies to my work and products.

Has it been a smooth road?
At first, my challenges were cultural. Learning a second language is a challenge for anyone, as well as adapting to a new culture. But the biggest challenge has always been balancing my life as a mother and my business. It will always be a struggle because I love my family so much, but because I own my company, I can make my own hours. Also my immediate family is not here. They are still in Venezuela and finding a very good support system that could help with some of my family responsibilities is very limited.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Atlanta Stylish Point story. Tell us more about the business.
Atlanta Stylish Point exists to enrich life’s celebrations through personalized style and party decor. We bring a custom design perspective to decor, cakes, sweets, and flowers to ensure our clients have an amazing, memorable event. Elements that we custom design and produce include flower arrangements, balloon garlands, party favors, cakes and cake toppers, sweet treats, paper products, and all the other details that bring together a complete party experience.

I am most proud that we consistently have very happy clients that come back for multiple event needs, year after year. I am also very proud of the awesome ladies that I work with who provide world class flowers (Reina Fierro), cakes (Aura Vezzani), and sweets (Marcelia Miranda). I design creative plans for clients and they always complement my ideas with their amazing skills and professionalism. They are a dream team.

One of my goals -dreams in the future is to make event decoration accessible for everyone that wants to celebrate life. That is why I have begun providing workshops for other local creatives who are interested in learning more about how to unleash their creativity with some of the amazing technologies now available (other event decorators, planners, bakers, teachers and moms).

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The industry will continue to grow as the economy stays strong. Everyone loves having a party, and a high quality, custom party turns any gathering into a lifelong memory.

Additionally, technology (CAD based cutting, 3D printing) continues to improve and will continue to enable creatives to produce high quality products.
